Yeah Cheri, I would love to. Since I am from SE MA myself, I love cranberries. I made cranberry chutney last year.

I just made brandied black cherrie sauce, pina colada jam and last night and today, pickled beets. I am beat and my hands are a dirty burgundy color. :)

I might make blueberry jam tomorrow and I am pulling my carrots tomorrow or Monday and making Carrot Cake Jam.

I am being very adventurous this year.

Actually there are are a few other MA residents here that also live on the cape. I for one, cannot enjoy cranberries much anymore. For me its the high potassium I must not eat.

I think that the cost for shipping trades might be a bit prohibitive. But I wanted to tell you that last winter I made Christmas and Thanksgiving marmalade for all the people at church. Christmas was orange, lemon, and grapefruit - and Thanksgiving was Orange and Cranberry.

Everyone really liked the Thanksgiving marmalade.

from lots of different regions-the orange/cranberry sauce is the
only thing that i preserve as i don't have luck with things like pickles
or jams-i usually make about 50-60 jars of it each fall---so i will keep
your name on my list and let you know closer to harvest time and then

I normally put up pickles, Apricot Pepper Jelly, Cranberry Pepper Jelly, Kiwi Lemon Marmalade, Blueberry Lime Jam and others as the mood strikes me. About every other year I make Peach Preserves and Strawberry Preserves, both adaptations of Eden Waycott's recipes. I'm really looking forward to this swap. Thank you for starting this thread, Cheri.

As to shipping prices, I would much rather pay that and sample all these wonderful home preserved bounties than spend money on things in the grocery store.

Sounds like a very fun idea! I made tons of chow-chow last year and hot pepper relish. We love it but I made way too much so I'd love to trade some. As for this year I'm working with cherries right now and will have apricots, apples, blackberries, mulberries, grapes, and ???? to put up.

The best option on shipping will probably be a well-padded flat rate box.

There are several swaps on the Cooking Forum. One is to send your swap partner a variety of items. And then we have our cookie swap where we send "x" amount of people, who ever signed up for the swap, Christmas Cookies.

I think it might be fun to send everyone signing up 1 jar of canned goods. Say if 8 people sign up then you can send say 1 jar of Cranberry relish to 8 different people. And this would still work well for small batch people like me. I would just send 1 jar of stuff to "x" number of people.

But most of my good stuff, the Fruit Butters is in half pints. Would anyone feel badly if they received a half pint but sent out quarts?

hi all-
this canning/preserve swap is going great-i've sent out my orange/cranberry sauce to 5 of you and am getting lots of preserves from you in the mail-its nice to get great homemade stuff in the mail-especially when theres no preservatives in them...susandonb-the cantelope/ginger preserve is excellent-never would have thought to put those 2 together-as well as the brandied black cherry sauce-such a nice treat-gardengrl-kathy-loved the peach salsa-my husband and i broke into that with tortilla chips and will be using the rest on a roast pork tonite- and robinkateb-just got your maple syrup and also the lemon/grapefruit marmalade-well try those this weekend for a great sunday breakfast---this has been so much fun-i look forward to getting the mail ---is anyone else interested in swapping??? i have lots more orange/cranberry sauce.........
