FFO! I can't believe it! and others...

BILL NORRIS acquired in a trade and planted too close in front of the tall agastache, but I noticed a scape coming up a few weeks ago so I moved it to full sun. It only has 6 buds but now that it's in a good location I'm sure it will shine next year. :)

FFO - it's a really big bloom, hard to tell here.

ROYAL FROSTING just keeps making buds! It started blooming June 24th and just keeps going.

HAPPY RETURNS started reblooming today. Wish the foliage wasn't so ratty looking though.

So glad I planted these this year, will pick different colors next year. Love the lantana.

Natanya - How great to have BILL NORRIS starting to bloom for you. That's one I really like! I also love the clump shot of Royal Frosting. You can't beat lantana for a great display of bloom all the way to frost.

I just wanted to say thanks everyone!! Very informative articles and so much knew stuff you learn each day comming here...I never understood this about bark and wood.. All I can say is thanks! I FINALLY found some! Fir bark... I remebered buying orchards from someone I met in my area over 5 years ago that was growing beautiful and citrus back then, and I remembered him saying someday he was going to sellevery good supply he could think of for orchards and tropicals, to help people be sucessful at these plants. It was a dream of his. I saved his number from then. I called him, and come to find out, he is a big supplier of YES!! "fir bark"...We were both happy to hear from each other besides. He has fine and or small and medium grade...He says it's real real good stuff. He specializes in this bark..NICE ha. Now I am excited. I get a FREE delivery of three bags within the next couple of days... I will take a pic, and you can see if it as nice as he says when I get to using it.... If it is, then I would be willing to tell you where I got it privately, since it can be VERY difficult to obtain this hard to find good stuff..:-) A secret he shared. I asked him how his plants were doing. He said better than ever before, since he waters his plants once a month with, ready? Seltzer water, sodium free.... He explained the benefits in detail, hard to remember...Hummm.. As anyone ever heard of this, watering container plants with seltzer water?

I have a bareroot rose from last year and I have it in front of a side fence to discourage anyone from hopping the fence to get in the back. Someone stepped on it late last fall and broke and bent canes off to the ground and within a few inches. I cut them off and with normal watering it came back this spring, growing off what I thought were dead canes and I didn't see anywhere it could start growing from again. I almost think it's going to be a better rose bush for it. I don't think a bent, damaged cane could sustain the weight roses would put on it. From what you're saying I don't believe the rose will regrow the damage done. I don't really understand where it's broke out but I think you'll have to prune it off and hope to spark new growth with some watering. I'd be putting some Vitamin B1 on it for stress. You might create a well around the rose and water it deeply before you go, maybe it would be enough if it's not too warm where you are. Roses are pretty tough, I've had various accidents with them and thought they'd be toast and they were fine.

Hello all, I am a newbie, living in western ,NY, don't know the zone,sorry. first time in cottage gardens. I just had to write, because I was just watering the Lemon Balm I bought last week , it is in a pot in my garden window and I thought to myself, I should plant that outside !! ..haha i am so glad i came on here. I am finally getting my back yard to use for growing plants and for letting the wild things grow:) Before with 4 very sport minded kids it was a basketball court and vollyball court, now I have let part of the wetlands grow as it likes ... we keep it mowed in a manageable size, well I think we will be able to manage it. I also let some of my woody are grow free and now I have wild rasberries I think? and lots of stuff I don't know what they are. I also threw some cosmos seeds and other seeds my mum brought me over from england. so I will be back here with pictures for help, as soon as i can figure out how to work my new digatal camera, and upload picture, i am a newbie at everything, I guess my garden life begins at 6o:) Oh I have one queation, I have a bush/tree tha that what looks like golfballs on it, does anybody know what it could be, if they had a nike mark on them I would use them.. Update - still working on it. With it being summer, a lot of people are on vacation and it makes contacting the right person difficult. Also, the banks don't want to release the information so I'm having to really push them for information. I think part of the issue is that the company/bank that siezed the merchandise didn't follow the proper channels and file with the town so they aren't really willing to admit that they didn't do it correctly. Rubyfig- thanks for the tip. One of the banks is public, so I'll try it. The other is a government loan for business, and we all know how easy the government is to work with... I'll be back with more information in a few days.

Love Royal Frosting, didn't see mine this year, it had a super bad case of spring sickness, it is growing now, but no scapes, maybe next year. :( It did rebloom for me last year and did great. Your pic is so good!!

I have Bill Norris too, one of my favorites. Nice looking flowers, bright color, reblooms well, just a good all-around daylily. Royal Frosting is really pretty.

Isn't it great to have an FFO now? :) Very nice bloom!
My Happy Returns started reblooming today too, it's too new to have issues with foliage, and I like its yellow color.

I agree about the ROYAL FROSTING pic. Very beautiful as they all are but that one stands out.
What happened to the last pic? It says the image was moved or deleted?

oops, sorry, I had the lantana pic in my daylily folder and then moved it and forgot that it would mean it wouldn't show here anymore. Nothing fancy, just bright gold lantana in the ground.

Thank you everyone! It opened up more and became less recurved as the day went on and you could see it across the back yard -so bright!

I have Bill Norris planted in my hot bed very close to Primal Scream and they sure do jazz up that bed. I really like your pic of Royal Frosting, it's such an elogant looking daylily.

That BILL NORRIS reminds me of MARY'S GOLD somewhat. It's a huge bright gold bloom and really makes a statement in the garden.
