Haven't seen one looking like that before. Appears to be a well established tree. I'd say it's getting too much water. They like to be kept moist but not soggy.

Hi SV, If you can, check the butts of each tree, and check for ants, they tunnel inside the butt and when you water them the fungi gets a go on inside and rots them off at the butt. If you find ants, they may be discouraged with Ant Fix, or similar product. To try to stop the fungal infection you could try Fongarid mixture to drench the base of the trees. Only use fertiliser in the growing season, just a little. Hope this may help. Good luck. Peter r

subtropix, I will actually be planting a Sabal Palmetto this spring, but I will put mulch or pine needles around the base of it and I will be protecting it the first 2 winters. But the thing about this snow storm is it was MASSIVE! We have never had one this big before, or at least not near us! I will most likely post about the Sabal Palmetto when I plant it and continue posting throughout the winter. One of the mistakes I made when planting these palms I made was that I did not put any mulch or pine needles around the base to protect the roots and I did not water then enough for the first month when I planted them. So they did not get their full strength before the winter, But I am surprised how well they did! (I should have really protected the European Fan Palm a lot better! It is not the best choice for zone 7a!)

I think a fungus would be more mottled and across more of the leaf rather than just the tips, but none of mine have had a fungal issue so hopefully someone else can chip in with a bit more info. Images I’ve seen though, I personally don’t think it’s a fungus. Do you keep the soil consistently moist or was it dry before these photos were took and is only wet from a recent watering? 9 times out of 10 brown tips come from water stress, so either under or overwatered. If the soil is still wet it sounds like an overwatering issue. Definitely let the top couple of inches of soil dry out before you water again. Do the stems and base of the plant still seem healthy? No browning or mushiness?
