Ok - I went through twice and made a list of those special ones that really spoke to me. My list is way too long to even start typing. I am so excited to see all these pink beauties. The eye on Barbara Dittmer is glorious.

I've come a long way this year. Started out not liking spiders or UFO's but then I had a seedling bloom that was an unusual form and it was love at first sight. Moana Twirler is a knockout! How big is it?

My beds are packed now and I don't know where I am going to plant the seedlings that I am keeping. I know I am going to get rid of some older daylilies that I no longer enjoy, but I find I want nearly everthing that is posted on this forum. I am not - repeat - I am not making any more beds! I am on maintenance overload now.

Thanks, Jan for such a special treat. I feel like I have been given a gift by a special friend.

The pictures are so lovely! Speedy recovery Joyce. You are incredible. So this site is not only about lotus, also about survival-? The lotus seems so full of life maybe there is a connection-?:)) I am looking for advice and tips too - being a novice lotus grower or wannabe. The lotus out on my balcony, which are all in containers, are struggling but haven't given up yet. I planted them in regular potting soil, so perhaps not enough nutrients, and they are getting half a days worth of sun? Should I replant them in early spring with compost? I have six from seeds, but I haven't seen an aerial yet... still they are trying but the leaf browns out of water... one grown from root has a few floating ones... which is probably Momo Botan, the seedlings I don't know. So they are not dormant yet, with Mediterranean climate. I really don't need seven lotuses, but who knows if they make it! Other question... the seedlings are in jugs, like big juice jugs, should they go into bigger pots packed with compost even now they are struggling? Thanks... Tarja

Eloise before you know it you will be having your own beautiful plants again! HUGS Barb last year I had the butterfly ginger in morning sun and it did not bloom until fall. But it was also the 1st year after I got it from Kristy. this year I have it in afternoon sun and it has been blooming for a while already. But I do know that maybe it is the hot TX sun in the the summer that burns the leaf tips quite a bit. Good Question. Edna yours is so much darker then CB's. Is it like that with gingers...the older they are ir blooming more...the darker the color? Or does zones...heat etc play a factor with gingers also? Cause I sure LOVE those too. Lucy

GGG, our rooms are quite small by some standards 11x12 or thereabouts the kitchen is smaller and you've seen how small the bathroom is. When this house was built it was in the days of outhouses what is our dining room today was the kitchen back then, they took a corner of the kitchen to put in the indoor potty :o). We added two rooms shortly after we moved here a new kitchen and another bedroom which is now where I have my computer, TV, books and my own remote control :o). I so love your use of color it has inspired me to go out and look for some really hot colored throw cushions for the living room, it still needs those punches of color. Thanks Annie, it's not fancy but it's home I've just been trying to make it comfortable, a place where we can kick off our shoes and relax. I thought blue was my favorite color so why do I go for green in a big way, maybe because I love teal blue. Your G.Grandmother's dishes sound lovely, sounds like it might be depression glass you lucky, lucky girl. Another love of mine, depression glass I think it's another thing that reminds me of the past and fond memories. DH bought me a book on it for Christmas a couple of years back it list's all the different patterns with pic's. One of my grans had lots of pink but I wasn't lucky enough to inherit any of it. I did find 2 green cups and saucers in the cloverleaf pattern and DH bought me 2 more off ebay. I haven't found anything else yet, the goal is to have enough green to set the table for 4. I would love to see yours, any hopes of a picture? I wonder how many of us like depression glass, maybe an idea for another thread :o). Annette

Huango, just returning to your basic comments, I often see and comment on kitchens that become large out of proportion to the rest of the house. It's a common phenomenon among the TKO'd. Often but not necessarily a mistake, but always something that needs to be done with great insight into the gains and losses and a commitment to living with them for decades if it comes to that. People's lifestyles, needs, and interests change as they do, and their homes still need to work for them. Regarding: "We are the first house into a LARGE neighborhood of very expensive homes, so we could never renovate beyond our neighborhood value." Dead wrong, and you do need to know that. Has your agent friend explained that yet? Future buyers will compare your entire property to their alternatives. The most glorious kitchen in your state would not significantly increase the value of you property if it was inadequate in other ways compared to alternatives. As an appraiser in Los Angeles, I can't remember all the really, really NICE homes that became--literally--teardowns because their neighborhoods developed with homes different (I don't say necessarily better, though almost always a lot bigger) from what they could offer. That's because, typically, almost all the increased value of a property as a neighborhood skyrockets in value is actually in the land--not the house on it. In any case, any time you're looking more than a handful of months ahead, you have to assume style changes will turn your glorious new tile, or even today's perfect layout, into a cause for buyer dissatisfaction that would have to be "fixed." This is especially the case in affluent neighborhoods where people have become accustomed to updating their homes the way they used to just update their wardrobes, or trade in the 2-year-old for a newer model car.

Glad you're enjoying them Ann....Moana Twirler is about 9 inches and a real beauty. I love her.
I remember saying "no more beds" too...that was about 6 beds ago!!! :)

Oh My!! How can a flower do such things to me? When it comes to pinks I am helpless. Really liked Awash With Color, Sweet Home Alabama, and Southern Mistress. Can I have just all pink beds? Sinfully yummy! Pat

Gorgeous pinks. It is such a nummy color. Your pictures make me drool!

I really like the veining on Southern Mistress.

I only have a few pinks and am still waiting for bloom. My Fairytale Pink was late setting scapes but at least I have some. Barbara Mitchell is about to open any day. Plus I have some 1st yr seedlings out of Wren Song that won't bloom this year.

Southern Mistress, Moana Twirler and Grandmas Smile are the stars of the show for me. I loved looking at them all though.

More gorgeous pinks! My favorites in this group are Barbara Dittmer, Wren's Song and Grandma's Smile, but I really enjoyed looking at all of them.

Lovely! I've found that I haven't added many "pinks" to my collection and just ordered some that should be arriving this week. So many plants, so little time and space!

Wow Jan, you have some real beauties.I love them all,except with the exception of the spider one.Grandma's Smile is gorgeous.I have Fairy Tale Pink I got last year and love it.Only got 2 or 3 blooms on it this year,but hopefully will get more next year. My very favorite one I have is Song of Praise.Its a beauty,Thanks to you :)Well, 2nd favorite,Victorian Lace is always first. Love them pinks,and ready to see some more.
