I had a few people ask me today if I would have plants for sale so I'm excited. As far as when I will have produce to sell - July is looking good. Seriously, except for about 240 sq. ft. in my backyard that I covered with plastic, it has been almost a month since I could even think about working any soil. Record setting rainfall in April and May is picking up where April left off. One way or the other, I will be better prepared next year, especially if selling from a single stand rather than a FM works this summer. I'll use every available square foot in my house for plants, especially cool season plants that do not require lots of light: Chard, Lettuce, Sugar Snap Peas, Broccoli. I've been playing with hydroponics and artificial lighting for a couple of years and should be able to grow stuff economically. Not as cheap as outside, but this year I have not been able to grow anything outside! Mike

Where are you putting this garden? Are you digging up your lawn? It sounds like you are planning on buying soil and putting it 5" deep. This mistake will cost you a fortune. Many plant roots go much deeper than 5" so, I'd forget the weed block. Buy yourself a hoe. Existing soil must be tilled and amended with organic material. Have you gardened before? What do you know about growing vegetables? Will your vegetables get enough sun? I would get a lot of questions answered before I'd begin. I don't mean to sound critical. I just don't want you to get discouraged. Good luck whatever you decide. Start small. You can always expand next year.

Thanks to all of you for your nice compliments. I truly agonized over paint colors, stain choices, etc. It is so difficult to find the right colors based upon a 2 inch square. I didn't have the heart to buy all of those little jars of sample paint. I knew since everything was white and my furniture wasn't there it probably wouldn't help me anyway. I have been so nervous about my choices (especially the blue). I am so glad other people think they look nice too. Homebase: I was hoping you would find this update. Any progress with yours?
