Trip To Daredevil Daylilies

I went to Daredevil Daylilies yesterday for the first time. All you spider and unusual form fans would love it! Her place isn't that far from Cottage Gardens, but it is very different. Though the hospitality is just as wonderful. She has a huge field of daylilies behind her home.(there were a few veggies tucked in there.)

There are some varieties by other growers, but many were her own creations. She has so many seedling crosses that she is growing out too. She has a very good eye and also is excellent at naming daylilies(Screaming Eels, Liquid Memories, Cheap Quills, etc.) I was lucky to have her have time to show me around.

She is working on ones with teeth.

I came home with Linda's Flamingo Lipstick(no pic.) I also got to meet Pam/Pamghatten who posts here finally! She happened to plan a visit at the same time. So it was a great day.

Wow, that is an enormous field of daylilies. I think my favorite is the fourth photo. Thanks for the tour!

Those are great pictures. I went through your album too. She does indeed have some beautiful daylilies. I love the toothed one especially, of course.

Wonderful pictures, Debra! I was there on Friday afternoon...in between rain showers! I just loved loved loved being in the greenhouse! Everything looked so grand...and like the pictures! I'm still getting used to my camera (my excuse) and/or maybe I need to change the lens as I had trouble getting tags on some...boohoo. At any rate, I did get a fair amount okay...including Lotus Position and Trifecta...I'll get around to putting it all up on my blog one of these days! Wish I could have gotten to some of the other places, but we were just flying by. I did get to Valley of the Daylilies on Sat., however. So many pictures, so little time...

The first pic says it all. WOW. Thanks for posting the pics. Glad you had a great time. Brent is wonderful and also a member of FieLDS (Finger Lakes Daylily Society). One year I'll make it there to see all that beauty but probably not this year. I hear that ODS (Ontario Daylily Society) will host the Region 4 next year so maybe an opportunity to stop on the way back home from that trip. Julia

Linda, The house garden is amazing. His wife Debbie is out there a lot so it is nice that they both work on it. Julia, He sure is! He also has an amazing memory. We only see him once a year and he remembers a lot about us. Roxanna, That one I'm sure of. It is a seeding. Brent has unregistered seedlings in his field by him and a few other breeders. I've bought a few in my trips there like Debbie #4 because they perform so well. Most of them are only $5. I'm not sure about Win Way, but you can email him and ask. cglilies@rochester.rr.com Remy

I love the shot of the field shot thru the fence. Daylilies everwhere! The really big yellow spider bloom is my favorite, really nice!

Nothing beats walking through fields of daylilies! You got some really good pictures. I enjoyed looking through the album as well.

Hey Remy!

It was great meeting you too! Linda's a good friend and it's been interesting to watch them transform that property. FYI ... the house was a plain old white "farmhouse" that her husband Joe had covered with stone ... an amazing transformation.

PS: She got flea meds for both dogs and was able to watch one of the fox pups eat the mange meds. LOL, I'm getting nightly updates.

Now you need to join us for the BADS meeting/picnic ...

Wonderful to show us what her fields look like. Love it! Linda spoke at our FieLDS club in the spring. Sounds like she has an outstanding program going. I guess I'll plan a visit to both CG and Daredevil next year.

I'm sure she is very happy about the fox! She is more of a nature nut than I am, lol.

Really great pics. I so do love to see wide open fields of daylilies. sounds like a good time was had!! Went to CG last summer, but didn't know about Daredevil.

Oh Remy, How beautiful! Looks like a perfect day. Now I get to day dream and drool for a year.lol The field shots were great. I always love clump shots too. You get a better sense of the nature of a cultivar. Exciting album. Elizabeth
