Feijoa Jam Recipe / Newbie Alert

Hi All!
New to the forum and have been enjoying the archives. I am searching for a feijoa (pineapple guava) jam or jelly recipe. The only ones I have found so far do not call for processing the jars in boiling water after filling and putting the lid and band in place (i.e., just fill, place lid on, turn upside down and let cool). From all that I have read both here and in the Ball Blue Book, this is an unsafe practice. Am I correct? Any jam or jelly recipes out there for this unusual fruit?
Thanks kindly,
Char
