I've Been Busy! (pics)

Well, I did it! Forty-four quart jars (34 lbs) of cukes later, and I have pickles!

I used Chase's (Sharon's) dill pickle recipe and expert advice from our sweet Annie to walk me through.

Now I'm on day 2 of Linda Lou's sweet pickle chunks!

Here's my tub-o-cukes chillin' out:

Darn, Kathy, last summer we almost couldn't get cukes here, I even ended up buying half a bushel!

Those look darned good, a bathtub full of cucumbers. LOL
I know Chase said that's how she keeps hers cool and crisp too.

OMG -- You ARE addicted ! LOL ! Join the club :) Are you putting them outside ? I live in Wisconsin , right in the heart of the midwest - Milwaukee - USA ... and right next to Lake Michigan. Weird weather ! Heat , humidity ,cold temps ,rain and snow . I decided to make a bunch of plate flowers to hang on my bare wooden fence. I have about 20 plates hanging on it . They have braved the weather for 3 years now - all year round with no problem :) I used GE silicone 2 ..... I glued hangers on the back with the silicone also - looking at them , I would bet they last for another 5 years ! I highly recommend it -- I hope they have it by you ! PS - if you are addicted - this is the best place to be !!!

Love the pretty tipsy pots! Like craftlady, I'm curious whether you stenciled them yourself or bought them like that. What an appropriate pattern on them too for your Florida climate! The BBs look very pretty in the sunlight and coordinate well with your tipsy pots. Now where in the heck did you get an old fire hydrant? And do you have a dog? lol! If you do, I bet he or she is quite grateful. It is a fun addition to your garden and will definitely be a conversation piece!

Kay, everything looks really beautiful. Your garden is a delight even when the daylilies are not blooming. Plus you know I love the zinnias. Those gardenshots with the zinnias do have so much color and look so great. I love how it all looks. I have been having lots and lots of butterflies on my zinnias lately too. And also hummers and goldfinches. They all love the zinnias. Your new redone iris section looks good and I know how much work it is to divide and move those iris! Salty Skipper and Heleman are my favorites of the daylily blooms. I am amazed that you still HAVE blooms!

Where's the Dill?? I do hope you used a LOT of fresh dill in them. Don't forget the garlic too! They do look good.

I had to use dried dill; I couldn't find fresh ANYWHERE and I even went to the hoighty-toighty organic markets looking for the stuff.

Oh, the garlic is in there! It turned a pretty color of blue as a reaction to the hard water we have here & the vinegar. :-) Next time I'll use distilled water & see if that makes a difference.

I'm on day 2 of Linda Lou's pickle chunks, so next week I'll be back at it again!

Kterlep, I bought those babies, so I don't know how many plants it took to grow them....sorry.

Whee - I just planted my "cukes" (cucumbers for short). I do hope the seeds are still fresh. - I'm sure they won't be that prolific - even if I stand over the planting area with a shot gun to keep out critters. But - I'm tempted.

Nice pics. I do have some fresh dill going - and hope it lasts until the cukes are ready.

My plan is to do some of them a-la Euell Gibbons dill crock again as I did last year. Everyone liked them.
