Eloquent Silence is terrific, mine bloomed for the first
time this year and I am very pleased.

Barbarian Princess, I have had her for several years and
always enjoy her flowers. She does look quite barbarian,
doesn't she.

Tom, three years did wear on me... but I didn't plant it in the very best of locations, so I partially blamed myself. It now has four full scapes, however, so it has definitely redeemed itself!

And yes, Kay, Barbarian Princess is aptly named! She was an afterthought when I purchased her... on sale at Ridaught (sp.), but one of my favorites that I got that year! Wouldn't be without her now.

Well, you found time for some really nice ones. Barbarian Princess is really lovely. My local drugstores never have any daylilies for sale. Certainly nothing that lovely. At least I think a Ridaught is a drug store. The local supermarkets all have some plants here and there but no daylilies there either.

Anyway, keep on posting, we love to see the pictures!

Wow! Julie, your daylilies are really beautiful. You must be doing everything right to have such fine looking flowers. When I compare yours to mine, it makes me want to pack my bags and move to the Pacific Northwest! I have some of the same ones, but they sure don't look that good down here in hot, hot Texas. My favorites are Louise Lemley, Eloquent Silence, Big Cabin Neon Beacon, Barbarian Princess, and Space Coast Blast Off. Even though my wish list was way too long by last September, I'll still have to add them to it.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful daylilies! My favorites are Louise Lemley, Only Believe and Always Afternoon. In most of the photos I see, Always Afternoon isn't nearly as purple as yours.

I'm wondering if your favorite DL color is purple/lavender?
Or maybe that's what's blooming right now in your garden.
Anyway, if I keep scrolling up & down to pick a favorite, I keep changing my mind, they're all so gorgeous!
I absolutely love Mort Morss, and hope to have that one in my garden some day, but I also love Louise Lemley. Looks like she has an applique throat. I can just imagine a whole clump of that one knocking my socks off.

Nancy, don't pack your bags yet... We get some lovely blooms, but a lot of the really exotic eyes just wash out here, and edges more often than not tend to be finicky on opening. But when we do get a beauty, unless it's an exceptionally warm day, we get to enjoy it for the entire day, and sometimes still the next am if you are out early enough!

Juliet...My Always Afternoon varies a little between purple and rosier depending on the day. I usually end up having to take pictures in the evening, so that makes a bit of a difference as well. One thing that I love about the daylilies is that they are never quite the same.... you can take 20 pics different blooms on the same lily, and they will all look different!

Julie... My favorite DL color depends on the day and what I am looking at when you are asking me! Someone else had written in one of the posts that they found themselves going through a "kick" when they order their plants... and I know that I definitely do! Two years ago, I went through a purple/eye/edge kick, and I do have quite a few. On the other hand, last fall it was an orange/yellow/red kick. I am still waiting for blooms on the majority of of those ( Hopefully I will get to see the FFO on Halloween Hocus Pocus and Volcano Queen tonight! ) Fortunately, when you mix all of those "kicks" into a large planting area, the overall result is delightful! I feel very fortunate that I don't have to chose even 20 favs, as I just don't think that I could!

All lovely! I really like your photo of Spacecoast Blast Off! I ordered that one over the weekend, and it should be here tomorrow. Unfortunately I'm sure I won't see a bloom on mine until next summer.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that your Cameroons is really Cameroons - it doesn't look like mine or the other pictures I've seen - especially the white midrib yours has. Anyway, you might want to take a look at the pictures on Tinker's and see what you think.

As for Cameroons, it was purchased as that, but I have wondered myself. The problem I have is that in our climate, eyes wash out terribly, especially in the darker flowers. It makes it hard to tell for sure whether you have the wrong plant or the wrong weather! I love my Morticia, which is a similar color... but it has never had the plumb eye that it is supposed to in my garden. And the white ribs are inconsistant in showing up in this plant, some have them and some don't... but like I said, it has made me wonder!
