Embedding pics instead of posting link?

I've seen the post by Kate on posting pics by link. How do you embed a picture in a post?

You still need to have a host site like Picasa or Photobucket. Once you have it there, they'll give you a couple options for each photo so you can share it through email or a direct link or post it into a forum. Select the one that says HTML or IMG. Copy that and then just paste it into the message. It will paste in as text but once you hit "preview message" it should show up.

Brenda im so sorry you cant see it ,it is so funny. I will explain it a little bit. It is the music to Funky Town its a fast beat and it is a feeder camera catching chickadees and tufted titmouse at the feeder eating. But they put it to the music and speed it up and it looks like the birds are dancing and getting jiggy with it. The titmouse is the main character and the chickadee dances along and drums with his beak. Its really cute. And it is real pictures i think they put to video ,its not computer make believe. Its the titmouse being dominant over the feeder and the chickadee looking for danger and cracking seeds but it looks like they are dancing and drumming, very funny, I wish you could see it.-------bonnie

Drippy, I guess that's one of Ma Nature's blessings to me because those 4 O'clocks reseeded from some WSed two years ago. I thinned at least 30 seedlings out of that bed-- unfortunately, I must've thinned out all the fuschia ones. I think that is about six to 8 plants there. They are as tall as heck. Happy as larks, too. They're starting to make their "bombs" for next years supply. Maggie, That flower is Venidium "Zulu Prince". I love it...they don't work well as cut flowers, though...they open to the sun, and close when there's shade. I do want more next year, though. The colors are amazing. Thanks everyone on the compliments :-) It's at that point where, there's no entire bed that looks balanced to me, only parts of it-- you know, when something grows taller than you thought and it's in the front of the bed instead of the back? But taking the individual pictures made me realize I didn't do such a bad job gardening this year, despite the weather. Linda

You shouldn't be getting an "invalid url" message from the html link (3rd box in list, under each picture). As soon as you left click within the 3rd box it will say copied, you just have to come back to your GW post, right click and select copy. You can then preview your GW message to see if it worked right. I've gone to your album and the lily pictures don't seem to be too big so I wouldn't worry about resizing those particular ones. If someone doesn't come along to save the day, you could always link directly to your album from the GW linking provided under the message composition box. From your photobucket album, copy the website address from the top of your screen and put that in the "Optional Link URL:" box and then for the name of the link you just call it My album (or something similar) Hope that works :) Here is a link that might be useful: Ellix

Trace, if you're in Photobucket, I can show you how to post a link to the entire album (But if it's not Photobucket, I don't know!) First, you must log in to your album in Photobucket, then go in to Account Options, change the Album option from Private to Public. Secondly, go out again to the home page of your Album (the one you want to share), then click on the "browser" (the line with http://...) Thirdly, go into your Gardenweb page, then paste the "browser" line into the line "Optional Link URL". Finally, give a name to the link in the line: "Name of the Link", for examgple: My album. Hope that works for you (with Photobucket). Xuan Your "browser" link will appear

There is a recent thread on the conversations page on just exactly this subject. Picasa users love Picasa and Photobucket users love Photobucket. I'm a photobucket person but think they both offer similar services. Both have free services so try them both and see which you prefer. Check out the discussion on Conversations, too!

It was recently reviewed as having the best quality photos and services out of all online photo products.

you will need to read the fine print, some of those sites (maybe even shutterfly) do not allow hotlinking, since it is using their resources.

Go with Photobucket as Kate suggested. I am sooooo easily frustrated with computers and now that I'm dealing w/Photobucket, no more stress.
I downloaded my photos right off the memory card into "My Pictures" and once they were saved on my computer, I then was able to download right into Photobucket, one at a time. Very, very easy. Photobucket will then give you (I think 4 different options) as to how you want to copy and paste them into different sites. Like Kate said, click on HTML, it will highlight and tell you "copied" and then paste it right into your GW post. Once you're done, click "Preview" and your photos will magically appear. I was so thrilled!
