Kelpie, Plumeria?

I was unable to find a link to the Plumeria garden party. in July, in Dover, that you mentioned in the other thread. There was a link for a Bradenton Garden Party in May, though. Can you give me more info about the Dover thing? Thanks...

Also: I have decided that I want a Plum near our main outdoor seating area. Are the sizes of the blooms and the scents all about the same? I will be buying for scent first and would hope to get a heavily scented one that blooms very often. Color and size, not so much, though I am leaning toward white or a multi colored one.

Thanks for any one's advice.

Plumeria come in many different scents. Flower sizes range from about 2inches across to almost 5 inches. Do you live anywhere near Seffner (just east of Tampa)? If you do you should go visit Exotic Plumeria. You would be able to see many varieities and they have some larger sized plants too. You wont find those in most nurseries.

thonotorose-send me an email. I just broke a large branch off my Aztek Gold while trying to support the tree. I'd be happy to send it your way. It's beautiful and smells like peaches.

I don't know if this particular seller is one who is using pics swiped from various plumeria forums but that is one of the big things to watch out for right now. There have been many reported instances on MPG and other forums of people finding their pictures in ebay auctions. They are even using pics that are watermarked in some cases. Please be aware of this practice and realize that it is very easy for a seller to copy and paste someone else's pic and use it as their own until they are busted...If they have asked for permission and given the person credit that is another story, but for the most part they are just taking what they want and using them...

Hi GardenWeb Plumie friends !!! Karen B: Thanks for the kind words :) "Just Peachy" is the actual name of the Plumeria I picked up at one of the SCPS sales at South Coast several years ago. The Moragne's are definitely some of my favorites...The 23 year old Celadine is my granddaddy of them all :) I would say the Kimo I have is around a 5 year old cutting that was given to me last year. iowajo: Thanks for your support !!! Thank you kindly for your input Karyn. That's too bad that your seedling didn't make it. Would be interesting to see if your seedling would have kept the cup shaped leaves ultimately. I was at Kimi's Plumeria here in SoCal talking to Beverly and she mentioned that she had a friend who had a tree that had "cobra head" shaped leaves. Apparently he had the tree for about 20 years before it finally bloomed. Hopefully I can keep this seedling alive long enough to see if it keeps the strange leaf trend and if it blooms. As for the cuttings, I bought them from a newer ebay vendor that I had previously purchased 2 Puu Kahea cuttings. Those cuttings were cleanly cut. I have to say that I was a bit surprised to see how ragged the recent ones were. I supposed I can try growing them as is and if that doesn't work, cut them again? I really don't know how important it is to have them cleanly cut. Karen R

The garden party at Will's should be the 12th of July in Dover, he's on the corner of Trapnell Road and Jerry Smith just north of SR 60 east of Brandon by about 30 minutes or so, not sure what time it starts but I'm pretty sure it's 11:00 and will be a covered dish luncheon. Don't let that stop you from coming as there's always plenty of food! I didn't realize the information wasn't posted on the website yet, sorry about that! I'll post all the information when I get it which should be any time now, everyone who is interested will be welcomed. Really! Please do come!

Sizes and scents aren't all the same, there's a zillion variations it seems. If you would like a fragrant white then Singapore is the one you want, it has gorgeous dark green, shiny leaves with a heavy, sweet fragrance that you can smell from several feet away. Florida Colors Nursery in Homestead is a good place for plumerias too.
