It is some stinky stuff. I try to use less the recommended dose and apply it early in the morning, hoping that the smell is not as strong at night, when critters are out.

I use it for my roses, hydrangeas, etc.

Nope. It's a brown liquid that you mix with water. I mixed up several watering cans full yesterday before work. The no-seeums were swarming me and the dog wouldn't leave me alone. LOL

That is so funny! I just read it aloud to the family and we are all laughing. Sorry that it happened in WM though. I bought the same stuff and my dogs also just loved it. So much so that I when left the jug on the ground to go into the house for a few minutes one of them chewed the cap off the bottle trying to get to it. Then I had to yell at them to stay out of the flower beds because they were licking the leaves and rolling in the scent.

I had to mix it in a bucket too because it was too thick to use with the hose sprayer. I splashed some on my leg and the gnats were swarming and the dogs were licking me. I'm not sure if I will buy it again.

I left mine outdoors and a racoon got into it and emptied the whole thing! My dogs however prefer blood meal!

In two to four weeks, with proper watering, your hand should get bigger.

You and I share a great sense of humor. I too brought my pescatorial effluvium home with great care. I put it in a 3 gal bucket and packed the empty space with old towels to prevent tip over.

I haven't had a critter problem yet except for black racers. The neighborhood has resident bobcats. And I saw a great horned owl light on a tree next door at twilight. Also little screetch owls too. These guys freak out the dog like crazy.

It was so muggy out last night and the smell lingers but my husband helped me put it into perspective. He said it only smells like low tide and he is absolutely right! If I shut my eyes while floating in the pool with an icy cold Corona balanced on my tummy I can almost hear the waves! LOL!

The dog however needs another bath. She has rolled on every plant in the yard and actually done some damage. She has NEVER hurt my plants in the past. Guess they just smell too good now to resist.

tannatonk-I have been using the Alaskan granulated mix. It doesn't smell. I bet you got some really strange looks with it all over your hands!

I fill up my Miracle Grow hose end sprayer with it and saturate my garden. My neighbors LOVE me. I hear it helps prevent fungus and it helps with heat stress. I usually apply the fish emulsion in the evening - that way, most folks are inside, and hopefully the smell is gone by morning. :)

My traumatic event with it was when the hose slipped out of my hand and the hose end sprayer flicked around and I got shot in the face with a nice stinky stream of fishy water. Yum. Avoid getting this stuff in your hair. Just trust me on this one.

This is exactly why I quit with the fish emulsion too - the dogs were unmanageable - the only way I got them away from the fish emulsion was when they started eating the Milorganite.

Hahahaha...you guys made my night! Betsy, sorry you had such a traumatic experience! I almost hate to tell you this NOW, but...there's a low-odor fish emulsion out that doesn't smell bad at all. Well, if you stick your nose down close to the bottle, it ain't perfume, but it really isn't bad. And it definitely does not stink when you spray it all around. I found it at Lowe's. You might try it next time. The dogs can probably still smell it fine, but at least you won't end up with stinky hair like NICKI! Hahahaha.

Nicki, I used the hose end sprayer too and was really careful. That thing can get away from me sometimes!

Marcia, the stuff I bought said it was "deodorized" Guess you say that! However when I see something advertised as "deodorized" I assume it means "smells pretty". That's what i get for assuming!

Anyway, like I mentioned before ... just think "low tide" and all will be well!

marion, I found the granulated at HD. It's in a small bag. "Organic Alaska All Purpose Plant Food, Made with Fish and other plant foods" 7-2-2. It has other ingredients, but it has done wonders on my pomegranate and other fruits. They seem to love it. It can also be used indoors since there is no odor. I got the 3 lb bag and it's almost gone.

That sure was a halarious story!! I fertilize my pinapples with it, and they do very well . The only thing is I notice the neighborhood cats start coming around. The stink goes away in a day. When I get through, I have to take a bath or end up smelling like a fishwife lol

I love it. I can just see your hand dripping brown stuff as you walk around the store. Were people moving away? I love fish emulsion too. My roses respond right nice with it. I try to use it on Sat. morning when my partying neighbor is gearing up for his hot tub party just on the other side of the fence. I know I'm bad. Cindee thanks for that tip on the dry stuff. I hadn't heard of that.
