puglvr,I have several"strawberry guava trees" and they produce
so many fruits year after year. I also have one "pineapple guava",planted longer than the "Strawberry G." It has never produce any flowers/fruits. I thought that maybe was not getting enough sun,so I have been cutting branches from a nearby oak tree. I also want to taste the fruit. It is a lovely little tree but I planted it for the fruit. I sure wish we could get further information. Thanks for your information about the heat.

I have three of the pineapple guavas that I keep trimmed as shrubs on the south side of our home, around a screened patio. I've had them since 2005, and they've flowered (sporadically), but, alas, no fruit! They get fed and watered and plenty of sun. Sigh... :-)~

I remember reading (somewhere) that you needed two, to produce fruit...I have had two in the ground for 4 years and had one flower - no fruit. I plan on removing them this summer to make room for something that will produce more predictably.

Three and four years definitely sounds long enough to have gotten fruits. I keep it watered and fed on a regular basis too. Well, I will keep it as a nice shade tree. The flower petals are very pretty and supposedly edible in salads. I tasted it last year when it flowered, nothing that I got too excited about, LOL, it was sweet. It is a pretty tree, its a shame I won't see any fruits, Oh well...

I have some of this plants and I was really hopping to eventually have some fruits...

I am wondering if the problem is the weather or the lack of right pollinator.. If the second (I have never tried it) maybe we can do manual pollination??

When I bought it, in the nursery they said it was ok to be planted in this area... and the plant seems to be doing good.. so in my unexperienced guess I would say .. if the plant is good the fruit should be possible...

My plants still don't flower, so I can't try it yet..

I'm beginning to think the weather may something to do with it. I've heard a lot more success stories from people that have cooler weather in winter/spring. Although I have two(for cross pollination) my other one is a small bush and DID NOT flower last year, only my BIG one did. I read somewhere on one of the forums here(he was from Oregon)that posted he hand pollinates the flowers with a small paint brush and has great success. By the way I tried that, I bought a small inexpensive paintbrush sold in the stationery dept and tried hand pollinating it. Absolutely nothing happened, NOT one fruit! Mind you, I have never done this before so I had no idea if I did it correctly. I followed the directions as best as I could.

I hope at least yours flowers this year, mine is behind from last year. Last year I had flowers by the end of May. So far I don't even see any buds. I will update IF I get any flowers later.

Just found 3 flowers tonight on my tree,I really had to look very carefully. It was kind of hidden by the leaves. Last year I had at least 15 or more. Must be the drought we are in that affected it. I didn't water the tree as often as I should have, so I guess that's the reason.
