Some Lillies amoung the Daylilies around here

I have lots and lots of Lily bulbs blooming. Had a great show earlier this year with the solid color asiatics and now the orientals are just going to start to bloom. Meanwhile now the tango lillies are bloming their heads off around here.

Tango Lillies. I love the colors and spotted patterns on these. I had never had this type before, the Tango lillies were completely new for me this spring.

Beautiful! You must really enjoy yourself over there. It must take forever for you to deadhead though. (I wouldn't mind, I actually enjoy it).

Deadhead what? I don't do my daylilies. I only snap off spent blooms if when I am taking pictures its in the way of the shot I want to take. On my roses I wait for the complete branch to finish blooming and cut it way back. On the Lillies I just cut off the very tops were the darn things want to set seed pods. Not as much work as you might think and I like to go around the garden and fuss with my things anyway.

I've always had horrible luck whenever I tried to isolate a sick aquarium fish. Seemed the stress of being caught and kept separate was worse than the original ailment. It may be that it's simply a few scales that got knocked out of place. I have had that happen and salt would be a good way to minimize bacterial issues. I don't know the salt ratio offhand but try googling it. Some site or blog will have it. I haven't had any problems in my pond, yet, but think I'd try melafix+pimafix if my pond was 500G and there was definitely fungus. Others seem to have success using those products. I think they can be used in conjunction with salt-but check with the manufacturers first.

Rita, I love your clemmies! Gorgeous combos! All my clems seem to be extra happy this year (except for one I don't know if it'll come back) with lots of nice green, vigorous growth. No blooms yet. I especially love your purple/red combos. :) No blooms on my DL's yet either or scapes, but it's been so cold, rainy and windy here, it's no wonder. When the warmth comes back again, so will the scapes and blooms! Cathy

Kay, you know I have really gorgous daylilies but these certainly are not them. This was when I was trying to extend the season by getting early bloom. A total failure as far as I am concerned. As soon as I realized what I would get (small yellow flowers) I decided Iris was the way to go and got into Tall Bearded and Siberian Iris. I figgured the TB would bloom first, then the Sibs, then the roses. But they are all blooming now although the TB did start first. LOUISE CLEMENTS and NEW ORLEANS are both Clements introductions from Heirloom Roses. I have lots of Clements roses and I simply love, love love them. They are just so beautiful. May I suggest if you start a rose garden you group a bunch of roses closer together for maximum impact instead of going for the one rose here and there type of planting. Then you leave space around the entire cluster of roses.

Gorgeous as usual,love those red lilies 2nd from the bottom.Was in wal mart today and they were just getting a plant shipment in,they had a beautiful red lily,wasn't a day lily though and the other names escape me now.They were 4.50 in a gallon pot.I didn't have time to linger or the stamina,had just come from the dr and got a shot in my knee,so was in pain. Rita, you have outdone yourself on these lilies. I love them as much as daylilies, they just need more cold and don't do so well for me. I do have a few tho. Thanks so much for posting these pictures. I LOVE your garden.

You do have a beautiful yard!I have some asiatics mixed in with mine,but have not heard of the tangos before. I'll have to look into them.

Rita here are a couple I just LOVE. Don't have many but these are my favorites. You really should get Blackout, it is awesome and colorful.

I also like to mix in various types of lily bulbs with my daylilies, especially the very tall trumpet lilies.

Beautiful lilies, Rita! Here are a couple of my favorites:

'Sweet Surrender,' a "tiger" lily.

Unknown double yellow asiatic.

Asiatic lily 'Avignon,' Maltese cross, shasta daisy 'Becky,' and an unnamed rudbeckia.

My orientals should bloom in a couple weeks.

I don't think I have any Black Beauty lilies, that sounds like one I would notice. I am really bad with the lillies. I will buy a bag of something that catches my eye and then after I plant them , I just toss the bag and never mark them. So I don't know what particular one any of my bulb lillies are and don't really care. I know I will buy more and I know I will not mark them. I just want the lanscape color and the glorious scent that comes with lillies.

All the lillies added above are gorgeous. Here bulb lillies are really easy, just plant it and forget it they just come up year after year.

Here is one that started blooming yesterday that smells divine.
