Some Color around the garden, no daylily blooms though.

There are no daylily blooms here. They are not even showing scapes. But those daylilies do look good, lots of nice big green fans.

The trumpet honeysuckle is really blooming in back of the garage. The bed of late blooming daylilies back there is growing well.

The clematis on the tower never looked better. They started off with more of the white showing.

Then more of the red ones open as time goes by.

The roses are mostly all lots of buds and not yet ready to bloom.

I planted some lupines, violas, siberian iris and sedums in a little pocket garden way in the backyard.

Some iris blooming in front of catmint and lots of lilies. That is my neighbors driveway and house in the back, not mine.

Rita- what are the names of those two irises? Very ruffly! I like the purple one- rare for me.

That clematis is so beautiful! Looks like you are going to have a lot of color in the months ahead. Looking forward to seeing more pics.

I don't think I have any Black Beauty lilies, that sounds like one I would notice. I am really bad with the lillies. I will buy a bag of something that catches my eye and then after I plant them , I just toss the bag and never mark them. So I don't know what particular one any of my bulb lillies are and don't really care. I know I will buy more and I know I will not mark them. I just want the lanscape color and the glorious scent that comes with lillies. All the lillies added above are gorgeous. Here bulb lillies are really easy, just plant it and forget it they just come up year after year. Here is one that started blooming yesterday that smells divine.

Thank you all! Ha I never noticed Moon Over Monteray being a bit of a polychrome. It is shorter than registered (not to mention bc is way lower) but I like that it actually survives and blooms and reblooms here. Though I will have to transplant it yet again because I need a path and because of its height (or lack of it). Yep Victorian Lace was perfect today. It doesn't have a lot of uglies though, good plant. Set Free reminded me of a fancier version of Loaves and Fishes. I need to compare flowers close to each other. Gilded by Grace doesn't open all the way and it's also short, but it's so pretty. At least it has couple scapes this year! Last year after the drought it only had like 3 buds or something :) Sorry yours took a year off, Debra. Thanks again, everyone!

Celeste, I usually get a frog or two in my pond but that is about it. The daylilies went by so quickly this year. Just a few really, really late ones still going. Avedon, the cucumbers make a great salad either by themselves or with some tomatoes. Yummy! Jean, some of my peas started blooming already. The weather is cool here for August and I hope it stays that way as peas can not take hot weather. Debra, Edward, Kay, thanks. Fountain of Life is a pretty one. Val, even the late bloomers are earlier than normal this year. Oh well, what can you do. Julia, SANDRA ELIZABETH is a must have for late blooms. Linda, your cat must be a great hunter to catch frogs. My frogs hide if anything gets near them. I am sure the racoons at night would love to catch them but they hide. Nancy, I tried those Chinese cukes as I read that they are sweet and tender. But really they taste like all my other cucumbers. But they all taste good! Nancy, I had no rebloom this year except for two that sent up one scape each. Surprising as we had lots of rain and the summer was hot. ozzie, thank you. Fountain of Life usually reblooms like crazy just not this year.

wow, Rita, you still have lots of pretty blooms.Love that WILD CHERRY ROUNDUP and ENDURING FREEDOM,too.That big sunflower is really pretty.I use to grow them every year too,and squirrels would eat the seeds before I got a chance to injoy them,and they broke the stalks,too.Thaat NY ironweed looks to be very tall,but I love the color of it.Love Purple's.Your roses looks so healthy and nice, too.Deer ate mine up.I was spraying them to keep the deer from eating them,and all this rain washed it off and the deer was out eating them.They stripped all the leaves off and every bud and bloom,so now all I have in roses is bare canes.,except for a few I have inside a fenced front yard,and they look pitiful too. The iris in front is Merchant Marine and the purple in back is Evening Tidings.

I did the clematis tower in 2007 but this year it looks better than ever. In fact I liked it so much I went out and bought more potted clematis locally to make another clematis tower. That is after I mail ordered 14 new clematis vines already. Going to have lots of clematis blooms :-))

Rita, I love your clemmies! Gorgeous combos! All my clems seem to be extra happy this year (except for one I don't know if it'll come back) with lots of nice green, vigorous growth. No blooms yet. I especially love your purple/red combos. :)
No blooms on my DL's yet either or scapes, but it's been so cold, rainy and windy here, it's no wonder. When the warmth comes back again, so will the scapes and blooms!

Oh RITA, That Clematis Tower is just outstanding.Beautiful.I really have a thing for Clematis.I love them.I have Blues,and a Red growing on the fence.I did have a couple nice big purple ones, but, guess they died out.My mother pulled one up and threw it away years ago.She thought it was a weed.She loved flowers, but knew nothing about them.I haven't been able to get another big purple one.

Beautiful photos, Rita. It never occurred to me to plant more than one variety of clematis on the same trellis. I now see more clematis in my future.

I have a tendency to buy and then figgure out were to put them. Thats how that 4 clematis on one tower came to be. I bought them, had the one tower set up and decided they would just all go there together.
