Oh my goodness, Rita. Your roses make me drool:) I wish we didn't have to deal with the japanese beetles or I would have a lot more.

I didn't realize that Stella Supreme was so much like Stella De Oro. Or at least in the picture. Maybe side by side I could tell the difference, but it makes me wonder what is the difference between the two. I will have to check that out.

Visiting a friend today who had a bunch of Asiatic lilies blooming makes me want to get more of those. But, alas and alack, space is at a premium for me pretty soon.

Lillies are great for the space challenged. Since they grow up and tall, don't take up alot of room.

Stella Supreme looks just like Stella to me but it blooms more. Stellas only bloomed once here, just like black eyed stellas. This one keeps putting out the scapes.

Those roses are just breathtaking! Do you grow all types of roses? I used to have some tea roses, but I had to battle Black Spot and Japanese beetles every year and they finally died. I was not a good pruner. Which types are the easiest and most disease free?

I do grow all kinds of roses but very few hybrid teas. I like clusters with lots of flowers over the long stem with one bloom typical of the HTs. I love Floribundas and shrub type roses. Honestly, I think they stick anything into the shrub catagory that they don't know what else to call it. NEW ORLEANS and LOUISE CLEMENTS were both shrub roses. These two are modern roses bred to look like old roses with the old rose form. Heavenly scent also.

You have to spray most any rose with fungicide anywhere on the east coast or your going to have blackpot. I spray, I can not put up with shoddy looking leaves or worse yet, nekkid canes and no leaves. No Japanese beetles here thank goodness.

The daylilies are pretty, the lilies are too, but those roses are to die for! Rose Louise Clements is gorgeous! When you start posting pics, you never leave me any money to spend on anything else but plants. I'll have to try that one for sure, as it is so beautiful. I just need the rose grower to go with the roses.

Kay, you know I have really gorgous daylilies but these certainly are not them. This was when I was trying to extend the season by getting early bloom. A total failure as far as I am concerned. As soon as I realized what I would get (small yellow flowers) I decided Iris was the way to go and got into Tall Bearded and Siberian Iris. I figgured the TB would bloom first, then the Sibs, then the roses. But they are all blooming now although the TB did start first.

LOUISE CLEMENTS and NEW ORLEANS are both Clements introductions from Heirloom Roses. I have lots of Clements roses and I simply love, love love them. They are just so beautiful.

May I suggest if you start a rose garden you group a bunch of roses closer together for maximum impact instead of going for the one rose here and there type of planting. Then you leave space around the entire cluster of roses.

Everything is beautiful, but I just love that New Orleans rose. The color is magnificent. Do you have any suggestions for a climbing rose or the best place to buy one? I have a couple, but am looking for hot pink, purple, or yellow. And I love the old fashioned rose forms. I have an Abraham Darby and love that one.

RITA: LOve that first daylily.The others are pretty, too, but the first one is my pick.Your roses are to die for.The most beautiful roses I have seen in a long time.I have almost quit with roses.Black spot is soo bad here for them,I have always sprayed them every week,and they still would get it, then drop all their leaves.The KNOCK OUT roses don't seem to get any deseaes, and it also seems to be a rose the deer don't eat upI been keeping everything sprayed with a stinky stuff to keep the deer from eating up everything, but,I noticed today,it didn't stop them from eating every leave they could reach on one climber in the back yard...That hanging basket in your back yard is gorgeous, too.

Jean- If your spraying weekly and they still drop their leaves your not using the right spray. Use a systemic. The best is Bayer Advanced Desease Control for Roses Flowers and Shrubs. Comes in a blue bottle. Another good one is Bonide brands Infuse.

Michelle- I love old fashioned rose forms that are modern roses bred to look like the old ones. That I why I love clements roses. But they do come in all sorts of forms. Go look at HEirloom roses, I know they have climbers. The climbers I want to suggest are red (DON JUAN, FIELDS OF THE WOODS) and not the color you are looking for. Because my yard is small, I have very few climbers so I don't know all the great ones avaiable.

I am very surprised to be able to post daylily bloom pictures this early myself. Now mind you, they are nothing fancy for daylilies but they are extra early.
