Posting pictures to the forum

Hello all,

I just got a new digital camera this weekend, and I am anxious to share some pictures of my garden. Can someone explain to me how to post picture? Thanks

1. You can go to the Gallery link at the top of the page and follow the directions for posting there. 2. You can post within a message here by using HTML language. but it's necesary to have the photo stored someplace on the Internet so that you can link to it. The HTML code is: *img src="URL"> except you have to replace the leading asterisk with a backward facing carat (the mirror image of the last character). If I hadn't made that change, you wouldn't be able to view the code. You also have to replace URL with the specific, full web address of the photo (and you leave the quote marks as shown). I have my pictures stored in a free account at photobucket.com. When you upload a photo to the site it creates a tag at the bottom of the picture. If you cut and paste the tag line into your message here, it automatically inserts the HTML language and you don't have to bother typing anything. Hope that's clear.

Joe, Once you get your pics copied to an online site (Image Shack, Photobucket, etc) there is a test forum where you can practice to get it all right. With Photobucket, if you copy and paste the 'TAG' under the pic, it will place the pic within the message. Also, with Photobucket, you would copy and paste the URL below the pic to the Optional Link URL box below your message, it will provide a link to the pic as opposed to it appearing in the message. Nice! Left a comment on Photobucket for you. I have a photobucket account, but I prefer Flickr. Flickr lets you have 200 photos for free, and I prefer their user interface. OK, folks, sorry for all the pics, I should probably be doing this in the test section. Anyway, I believe this would be the best way to post a forum pic: a clickable thumbnail. Below is step by step instructions on how to make one: 1. Log into your Photobucket account Select the image that you would like to generate HTML for by checking the radio box below the thumbnail image (ex.: th_2qn12pz.jpg). 3. Click on the 'Generate HTML and IMG code' button at the bottom of your album. 4. Copy the "HTML clickable thumbnail for ebay, Livejournal,Myspace, etc." code 5 paste the code to your Forum message and it will come out like below: ...now click the above thumbnail for the large picture. (Iknow for you folks who have been around here for awhile, you have probably seen and anwered this question a thousand times. My appologies! Hope this helps you bumblers like myself who are just trying to learn this stuff...

Just to add one small clarification to those instructions. Now all you have to do is right click on the line under your photo that says "HTML code" and you will see a yellow field pop up that says "copied." Once you have that, you just go back to your message and hit Edit/Paste, and that code will appear where you are typing your message. When you click on "Preview Message," you should be able to see your picture in place as it belongs.

It's not hard, once you've done it a time or two. Easier than it sounds, really.

Hmmm, was able to do this last year from photo bucket, since then we went with google picasa and haven't been able to figure it out since?? (Help) gonna try a few more times...we'll see. thanks, Terry.

photobucket is driving me so insane I might look into picasa. What are your problems with it?

Anyone using a Mac PLEASE tell me which program and/or browser works best for your photo uploads. Photobucket takes SO long and the upload feature won't even show up on 2 of my 3 browsers.

Not sure if you still have problems with it... but this is the way I do it...

Once the picture is uploaded to any of the many available services (like photoubcket), open the picture in full in the browser. Copy the http address (someting like http://address/photo.jpg)

Then when posting a message here you just add the following:
