I used image shack hosting to post these. Anyway.........
Browse to find your file. Click host it. Then copy the url from image shack in the message box to show the pic here.

Choose thumbnails for websites for a clickable pic like this

or hotlinks for a full size pic like this

Once you get your pics copied to an online site (Image Shack, Photobucket, etc) there is a test forum where you can practice to get it all right.

With Photobucket, if you copy and paste the 'TAG' under the pic, it will place the pic within the message.

Also, with Photobucket, you would copy and paste the URL below the pic to the Optional Link URL box below your message, it will provide a link to the pic as opposed to it appearing in the message.

Joey, One of the easiest ways to provide your photo to be embedded into a post is to upload it onto an image hosting site such as Photobucket, Flickr, etc. That should be pretty straight forward, and the individual sites will give instructions on how to get your photos uploaded to their site when you sign up. Once your picture has been uploaded, find its web address by right clicking on the image and copying the image location. Some sites may even provide your image's address in a text box below the photo for your convenience. Let's say, as an example, that the address of the picture you want to post is http://somepicturesite.com/yourpicture.jpg To embed the picture into a post, use the command: img src="http://somepicturesite.com/yourpicture.jpg"> If your picture is too large to fit nicely into the text page, you can add a width attribute. The command with the width attribute would look something like: img src="http://somepicturesite.com/yourpicture.jpg" width=600> Note that I had to use special characters to get the commands above to show up here without turning into pictures, but you can use them as shown (with the correct image web address, of course). _____________________________________________ Foolishpleasure, I'm not sure if you are just kidding, but in case you aren't, Google it!

I also use Photobucket...it's free & it's great! I use the option for posting a clickable thumbnail, as illustrated below. Thumbnails are very helpful for people who are on dial-up modems cuz they don't take so long to open. To view the pic, you simply click on the thumbnail & it enlarges...then move your cursor to the lower right corner & pause a moment; a small enlarger button appears. Click on that & the pic enlarges again, giving you the sharpest image. The fully enlarged pic below will measure 640 X 480. Here's how to do it: Select the desired image in your Photobucket album and click the small empty box below the pic's lower left corner. Move the slide bar (on the right) to the bottom and click on "Generate HTML and IMC code" A new display will open with 4-5 options. Use the FIRST option, which is labeled: "HTML clickable thumbnails for eBay, Live Journal, My Space, etc. - recommended" Place your cursor at the beginning, highlight the ENTIRE contents of that box...then right-click it and choose COPY. Now move into the GW thread you want to post to. Right-click inside the "Message" box and you will see the code attached. Click on "Preview Message" ... if you followed the directions, you will now see the actual picture instead of the coding. You can add any text either before or after attaching the photo. Patrick

Mustardseeds, there is a testing forum here on Gardenweb, and you can try to your heart's content there as well. And you can always post to it w/o looking for a thread. Just create one. What album service do you use? Is it Photobucket? Tinypic? I use Tinypic, it works great. You use the "code" which says it uploads to websites. It is very easy to get your pictures up there. BUT, if you move the photos around in your folder on ANY such service, it breaks contact with any picture you may upload to Gardenweb from there. So move it where you like BEFORE you upload it. If you have a browser which allows for TABS, you don't need two windows open. You can open a second TAB for the photo album site, and keep the Gardenweb window open, then you can switch back and forth between the two all day long. Do a copy/paste routine, of the html codes, then PREVIEW MESSAGE in Gardenweb, and you'll see your picture. Just insert the code IN THE BODY OF YOUR MESSAGE, not down bottom in the OPTIONAL LINK URL. KB...All I see is a red x in a box...possibly others can see it though. I've had this problem b4, though not recently.

I posted from PB using the tag. I do know some people had trouble viewing PB stuff yesterday, but I wasn't one of them.
Thanks for replying and for the instructions. I think it's pretty fun in here and ya never run out of anything to see or read.........right?! I don't see a place where you can actually have a running conversation though. O well, I have that on other boards.
