Bradenton near the coast - total rainfall 3" for the week and it stopped on Thursday night. Hasn't rained since.

Sorry you're getting a bit much. It was mostly dry here today. A small quick rain was all. However, everything is still pretty wet from the week long drenching.

In fact, today was the first day I could really work on my yard this week. Managed to get 6 pavers in. Am puzzled as to why pavers must be so heavy. Tomorrow I figure I will be paralyzed from the heavy pavers. Hope to recover to put 6 more in Monday.

I've had appx. 9" of rain for the last 10 days. Luckily the most its ever rained in one day is 3.5". The plants and lawn are really loving it. Just a five minute sprinkle today, was nice to see the sun come out,its been a while. The container plants need to dry out for a few days...

Saw sun and a tiny patch of blue sky BRIEFLY today. Went out to clean the tree debris from the driveway and - it started raining again. Our local TV weather man has PROMISED we shall have a dry, sunny day on Thursday. I may have to use a machete and a weed wacker on the lawn before I can mow it, if I have to wait 'til Thursday.

The rain knocked all the flowers off my new Dendrobium aggregatum, I thought I'd moved it to the carport. The Bilbergia flowers are laying on the ground (well, they always lay on the ground but now they're wet and muddy) The black-eyed Susans and the indigo spires are happy as clams. They were a little bent over but we had a few minutes of sun today and they perked right up. My pitiful vegetable garden is enjoying the reprieve from the sun and heat. I'm trying very hard not to complain, we haven't had any flooding, and I just try to imagine the aquafer filling up.

Who'll stop the rain? I will. I know how. I have some rain barrels I never got around to setting up, since there was a drought I wasn't in a big hurry. I need to pick up some concrete blocks to set them on and pick a couple spots in my yard for them, but I am certain that once I get them set up, it will stop raining. So, no worries, I will try to get this done this weekend.

Oh, and if we need rain again later I'll just wash my car or paint my house.

That does work !! I converted my outdoor aquarium into a terrarium and wow it brought the rain!! I have a siphon in it but can't figure a way to make it automatic. All the plants looked beautiful under 27 inches of water lol
It even filled up with the siphon running full blast lol

It has been raining almost all day everyday since last week Saturday. What do I see when I open my curtains this morning??? MY NEIGHBORS WITH THEIR SPRINKLERS ON!!!!!!! I could not believe it!

People, please...rain = no need to run your dang sprinklers!!!!

They all come with an 'OFF' setting. Use it.

Here in St. Pete it is dry and sunny for the moment. Honestly, with all this rain, I think we've briefly forgotten just how quickly it does dry out in the hot sun.

My front yard looks a little parched...

I've had to re-pot some small potted plants because of the massive amounts of rain in such a short time. I noticed common symptoms like yellowing leaves, wilting, and weak stems. Roots were starting to rot from the soil not drying fast enough with all the humidity in the air. So what I did was remove the root-ball from the pot, let it air dry for awhile and then re-pot.

Up here in Ponce Inlet--27.5" of rain from Monday through Saturday. The flooding is awful on the mainland, but here on the island, we have no problem. I'm just holding my breath--no rain today! Hooray!

I just got back from Lowe's. All their small peppers and tomatoes rotted due to the massive rainfall.

Normally I would be thrilled with the rain....unfortunately our roof has sprung several leaks which have been really bad with all the rain...and of course we can't get it fixed because of ...you guesses it....the RAIN. I love thunderstorms though...although now I'm worried my roof is going to cave in. If it could just hold off a day or two...my yard is loving it though.

It's rained here for 8 straight days! Lot's of lightening in the air which is great for the plants. Everything has greened-up, even my neighbors new zoysia grass. This is some tough grass....was totaly brown like straw but is lush now!

Greetings all ~ I hope the rain has let up for all of you. Our claw foot tub ended up with about 12". I did finally head off to work, and the road in front of our cottage was up over the sidewalk. We only had a little rain after the mornings deluge, and today we've had nothing but gray skies and a few sprinkles. The sun even came out late this afternoon.

We did have one little leak in our cottage at the wall/ceiling edge. Trini ~ I hope your leaks didn't cause too much damage to your home and that you get the roof fixed soon as it's dry enough to do so.

Yes, we did pray for rain, so... we got a little more than we asked for. Setting up rain barrels, painting the house and other such things might stop it, then again they might not. We haven't had rain in so long, we didnt' know what to make of it, or how to handle it.

I did get my blue bottle bouquet back up this morning, driving stakes into the ground inside the terra cotta vase, to keep it from happening again. The terrible hurricane like storm that we had Wed. night blew it over. Not one bottle was broken though, in fact most of them collected water. :-)

Accu-Weather says we're supposed to have more rain over the next couple of days, we'll see. We were supposed to get some today also but didn't. The weather people aren't always right.

HOORAY! I managed to mow the lawn today. It only took two people and twice as long. But it was a rain-free day and I meant to make the most of it. Pulled a lot of grass from the mulch at the side gate and potted up a bunch of (moschatus) hibiscus seedlings for neighbors. (the pots are made of newspaper) and relocated several volunteer canna. I need to get some more cardboard and mulch down. SOON. Because I don't know how long I can keep this up. There always comes a point in the summer when I say to heck with it! and concentrate on indoor projects. cora

Over here on the west coast we love the rains, my lawn went from this:

Ha ! I'd just set up my 7th (yes, seven) rain barrel and then the rains started. Over the past week we've had a little over 10 inches. I live on the barrier island on the east coast ! We needed it; but already it's soaked into the ground like blotting paper.
The big problem now is mosquitoes. I've emptied the water from all the standing containers. Normally not bothered by them as we usually always have breeze off the ocean. Showering this morning, I counted 16 bites ! How the heck do thos buggers get under your bra (and other places). I'm itching like crazy.

Apparently all I had to do was threaten to set up my rain barrels for the rain to at least slow down a lot. It was sunny most of the day and we had a small shower sometime after dark. I was just too wiped out from working over the weekend to get anything else done.
