Starting Daylillies from a root in July

Hello,

I was going to look at ordering some daylillies in root form to start them yet this fall. I was either going to put them into the ground this fall or winter them in pots in my garage.. not sure yet. Would it still be feasible to do this given the time of year. I'm worried that they won't be far enough along this fall to winter successfully.

Does anyone have any advice? I was hoping to get a jumpstart on them for a new bed for next year so they're a bit bigger than starting them next year. Thanks.
