I've never bothered to see if any milkweed had a scent. If they do it's not strong. Lucy at least there's someone to water while you're away. Most of my plants will have to fend for themselves while we're away next week (or week after?). I'll have the kids that are taking care of the animals turn on the greenhouse mister for a few hours a day but with all the pets they need to care for (dog, cats, bird, rabbits, chinchillas, sugar gliders, hamsters, rat, frogs, fish and geckos) I can't ask them to water all the plants too. It takes me over an hour to water all the plants. I will move what I can to as shady an area as I can find but other then that there's not much I can do.

there are decals that you can buy that are almost invisibe to you but realy reflect colors to the birds. I have a kitchen window that was a big bird strike area, since the decals...no strikes at all. I will try to find a link or info on them for you, only about $5.00 for a pack of 4. (also can move them from window to window as the seasons chang and different windows become strike areas).Mine are maple leaf shaped and transparent, but they really work. Lisa

Wow, great shots of some handsome birds. We only discourage House Sparrows which are not native. It appears to me you have an American Tree Sparrow because of the dark upper bill, and the yellow lower bill. My pictures have been terrible lately because it is always too dark out. You got some really nice action shots there.

Trickyfingers, I was using a syringe, but find it much easier to use the other end of a seafood fork. It's shaped like a post hole digging shovel, but really tiny.lol It;s now eating a mixture of dog food mixed with poke berries. I also feed it cut up grasshoppers, cabbage worms, crickets, moths, sow bugs, and meal worms dusted with pulverized oyster shells. It's not making any attempt to eat without me shoveling food in it's mouth. But It's getting much stronger to the point where I actually think it's going to live. :) Still no response from the rehabbers. I think I'm on my own here. But hopefully it will be flying next month? :) Laura
