I have both of these, too, Kate, but mine sure aren't where YOURS are. At least, not yet! Just gorgeous!!! No wonder you are getting a lot of hummers! Your coral honeysuckle is fantastic...thanks for sharing the inspirational photos.

The coral honeysuckle responds to fertilizer like it was crack. Even a little sprinkle of food makes it go crazy and sprout in every direction. I had a brugmansia planted about 2 feet away from the vine, hoping it would grow up beside it for a spectacular corner, but it never did anything. This was its second spring in that spot and it was still only 6 inches tall! A brug that should have been 6 feet tall! I decided that the vine was sucking all the good stuff out of the soil so I moved the poor brug last weekend.

I love Coral Honeysuckle vine. Wish I had the space the let one go wild.

That's one pretty honeysuckle vine. Hope you don't mind a couple of questions: Is it scented and is it green year-round?

I don't think it has much of a scent although the websites call it 'fragrant'. Not to me. Certainly not like a jasmine or other honeysuckle does. How about the rest of you who have it? Do you get a scent off it?

It is evergreen.

Lonicera sempervirens is it's real name. It's sometimes called Trumpet Honeysuckle and you don't want to confuse it with Trumpet vine (Campsis radicans), which can be terribly invasive.

The other day I came across a house that is to be demolished The gardens are all overgrown.

I dug up a few things, and whomever had the property had spent a great deal of time in that yard

What attracted me was how wildly gorgeous the orange honeysuckle vine has grown.Or coral as you have written

I did not bring any of the vine with me. as I wasn't sure if it grows from cuttings or needs root.

The bulldozer will be there I was told Monday morning. I will get back over and get some cuttingsbut would like to hear from you as to what is best to do.

Just as Kate said, I don't find it fragrant, but it goes crazy with blooms and color. It is a knock out.

Diane - I sent you an email with some suggestions for harvesting the vine you found.

I'm sure the person who previously gardened at that site would be thrilled to know that someone appreciated what they did and wanted to rescue some of the plants!

I also have coral honeysuckle and I dont notice a fragrance about it either. I got mine late last year and it did flower before the hummers left and this spring I cut it back maybe to far but it is really greening up now and I expect it to do well. Last year I had it fenced in around a yard light , but this year I removed the fencing and put a four ft trellis there and am training it to grow up the trellis. I think it will do well, but its only about a foot tall right now.

I need to move my Lady Margaret to a better spot. Is it fussy about being moved or would I be better off trying to start a new one from cuttings? Thanks.

Nancy, it might slow it's growth for a year while it re-establishes it's root system but I don't think it would have any worse effect than that.
