A few of Tuesday's seedlings

I hope I am not making too many posts of my seedling pictures, but I am so excited every day to see what is blooming. My husband is not a gardener but really tries to show interest every day when I drag him to the seedling bed.

#1 This one is for Lrae to show that some are not very pretty. The worst of the worst I don't even photograph.

#3 I don't know if this one is a keeper or not. It is from Rushing Delight X Gary Colby and it is such a blah color, but has a big 7" bloom. In person it sorta reminds me of a large Ida's Magic. The camera did not capture some of what little color it has.

#4 This is a sibling to the previous one - a nice soft yellow, but not great form.

#5 I love this seedling. I like the variance in colors that is always present. Every bloom on this daylily is quite beautiful (in my uneducated eyes).

#7 This is a beautiful soft pink from Elizabeth Salter. The sepals are trying to show an edge. Should I try to cross this with another daylily to see if I can improve on form and keep or improve the edge?

I like the second one a lot. The 3rd and 4th look promising. If you like any of them and this is their fist year blooming keep them another year. I am seeing in my seedlings here that 4 or 5 years makes a real difference. They are all nice, who would have thought PINK SUPER SPIDER could father such a nice flower!

Ann, I really like your #5, & #7 is nice on its own I think. Of course, I even like #1, but my seedlings are all pretty common looking. I didn't have any daylilies with real edges til this year, so will be a couple of years before I see anything that might have ruffles/edges. I even like my ugly ducklings.
You really have several nice seedlings. I like the delicate color on #3, especially if it has a 7" bloom. If you decide you don't want to keep it, don't forget about me! I love big flowers :)
I like the recurved look of #2, do you know the parents? Looks familiar.

Thanks everyone! The seedlings are so similar to their parent, but I like that they are taller. The will work well in my flower bed in the middle of the yard. For some reason not all of my calla lillies came back this year. I don't know why, they have been coming back for years & we had a mild winter. The orange one is gone & the dark one. Just have this one & a white one with speckled leaves. Jean, I really like lilies too, I have quite a few of them scattered around & try to add a few more every year.

Nice...all of them...I think that sepal thing on the last one is from Sp. Starburst. Mine always does that.. I've seen very few good blooms on it. I think it's going to find a new home next season! Thanks for the show. Jan

Thanks you for looking and commenting.Debra and Cleangeek, Tempt Me has had perfect blooms every single time. I love the fact that the edges have never hung. It was a bonus from Bill, and I am very glad he sent it. Sarah, I have had Please Say Yes for several years, and it is a real bloomer. Asheville Pink Lady looks so much like its parent, Shores of Time. I see it's registered at 36 inches. Is it tall for you? Royal Extravaganza is gorgeous even with the bug! It's pretty hard to find in that big, green throat. I like your pink seedling with the red eye! Debra

Hi Ann, that number three that you are not sure of is my favorite. I would love to see something that nice in my seedling bed.

Nice pics. Great Seedlings I like no. 5 and 3. Great edge on no 3. None of them should go to the compose pile this year.

I think they all have some good qualities. Keep us posted on their progress,and be patient!Remember the Ugly Duckling!

That second one is my favorite of the group. After that I like #3, 5 and 7. Great job!! A lovely group of seedlings, and I hope you post pics of them next year so we can see any changes.

Thanks everybody. I plan on keeping all of these for further evaluation except maybe the first on. Not sure about it yet. You are all so nice to humor me while I am this excited. I will try to keep from posting pics the rest of the week. There are many beautiful seedlings being posted daily, so we will enjoy them.

Wow.. I really like #3, but that muted color is right up my alley... hence, I like the #7 too! Beautiful. I never get tired of DL pictures! :o)

WOW! #7 is just about perfect. I really like this form and the soft color is beautiful! The edge looks like it's been ebroidered with the same color thread or maybe a shade lighter. Fine! Mona

#7 has a magnificant form!
I also like #5 with its interesting shading. You're doing a great job with your seedlings!

I absolutely love #1 Ann...was really smitten with it when I saw it. Is this the one with Roses In Snow / Jambalaya in its parentage?

I'd give them all another year to improve.

I like the color shading in #1, maybe form will improve with time.

And that #3? I really like the elegant form and feminine color palet of that one too. Plust the size is a great bonus.

Love the 2 out of Spacecoast Starburst too!

You know what Ann?? I like them all! I think they all have lots of potential. As Michele said, a year or more at least to see what they are going to be like. Could be that your no fav will be a dog and the now dog could be a winner. I have been disapointed soooo many times, thinking I had something really good and as it turn out, they sometimes are so different you wouldn't recognize them as the same dls. They all are quite lovely even the one with a bad bloom... Praise The Lord...We got rain tonight...Ellie
