Best Coral Daylilies of the 2018 Season
Comments (17)I don't seem to have many in this color range. The first two below are some of my very best daylilies..... TREASURE OF THE SOUTHWEST This one is one of my absolute favorites of my daylilies and I seem to take it's photo the most....it and Jerry Hyatt. (I found at least a dozen shots I took this summer). There are all the colors of a sunset in this one. It makes a tremendous clump that blooms endlessly with multiple scapes and buds, is super-robust and healthy and the substance holds up in the heat and the cold. In the heat it has more coral tones..... in cool weather it takes on more pink tones..... either way, it's gorgeous! SOUTH SEAS This golden oldie can not be beat for both brilliant color, reliable performance, hardiness and vigor. I will never be without this one. VT BETSY Not well known or widely grown, this Olallie late-bloomer will keep pumping out blooms dozens at a time well into September. Narrow grass-like foliage and dainty stems with fluttering blooms that remind me of butterflies in the breeze. RUNNER UPS..... This one could potentially be a favorite in future years. It's relatively new so it hasn't proven itself but the color has the 'wow factor'..... SMOKY MOUNTAIN AUTUMN BITTERSWEET DESTINY This is a daylily I tucked away in an obscure part of the garden and I always mean to move it where it can shine because the color is wonderful....See MoreBest Coral Daylilies of 2019
Comments (29)Funny you should say that Karen. Speaking for myself, I am drawn to corals/peaches when viewing catalogues or online websites but then I really really like those colors. Mind you I haven't met a daylily I didn't like yet I don't think.. They all have their subtilties.....just some stand out more than others . Sometimes the color is hard to define ( for me as I said above) but I am drawn to them much more than other colors or combos. Celeste's picture of Forest Lake Raggamuffin really captures the essence and beauty of that plant and If I were to see that image in a catalogue I would pass up the latest and greatest to buy that one . I guess it all depends on what your preferences are. For Debra it seems to be pinks, Maryl says oranges are her fav's , for yourself I believe you said you love whites and for me it is this color . Just for the heck of it , here is an image I am squeaking in ( don't tell anyone LOL! ) This one glows across the garden ....See MoreBest Purple Daylilies of 2021
Comments (37)Houzz does not seem to want to post my pictures, maybe it will let me just write a little bit I have All of My Love to You, can't wait it mine looks like that, Debra. I have debated before on getting Reckless Girls but always talk myself out of it, but what a clump! Bluegrass Shadows looks so pretty, but I think I heard it does not grow that well? Love your Laura Harwood, Sherry. Mine did well this year, 2nd year I think for me. Nancy, Absolute Ripper is another I keep talking myself out of, but regretting that now. Man Eating Bat looks great Kate, I have always liked the look of Larry's Obsession, but it died for me and I have not tried it again. I got Love Struck this fall, hope mine survives. Garden Butterfly is gorgeous Celeste, Thunder Glow was on my wish list, but you are not the only one who mentioned splotches, so it quickly came off. Love Olly Olly Oxen free and Claudine's Charm. Claudine died last year, I may replace that on. I think a big mole dug under it. Brad, Kirsten's Corsage always looks good for you, and I like Liberty Banner David, Mystery of the Ages is gorgeous I will see if Houzz will let me post a few pictures by editing Back Scratcher has done well for me Blue Voodoo has done really well, expecially since it is really crowded by another plant. I know I took better pictures than this one Enduring Freedom always does well, occasionally it splotches but not often since I moved it Coach's Magic Man has increased well in its 2nd season, bloomed and rebloomed both years I have had it. This will b e nice when it becomes a nice clump Filled to Overflowing almost died a couple of years ago, went down to 1 fan, but is a nice clump this year and bloomed over 6 weeks Westbourne Chip off the Old Block is as great as Kay promised, bloomed for almost 2 months with rebloom Green Rainbow Kierabel is a lighter purple with deeper purple in it, so I may have it in the wrong category. It is a great plant though, has multiplied really well and bloomed great Westbourne REvivals does well Make it Snappy did great this year...See MoreBest Red Daylilies of 2021
