Thank you very much for the ID's. The first one is near the spot where I saw the bad-looking P. mugo subsp. rotunda about which I asked an ID too. At first I though they were both the same species because they looked similar, but when I went too look closer then I could see the cones were definitely different. Funny part is that someone else suggested in that thread where I asked for an ID that it could be P. thunbergii. So I guess both trees are similar looking indeed. The second one I think comes from a hedge close-by that was (I think) never trimmed and therefore started producing cones. The third one is almost a miracle to me. Closest Abies koreana that I'm aware of is at least a few hundred meters away from where I found it. I'm very glad I dug it out too because A. koreana was also on my wanted list. :)

Your tree is a seedling. It is not a known cultivar. It grew from a pollinated seed ,that you can be sure. The chance to produce a fruit comparable to a known cultivar,is extremely small.

There is a group of us gardenwebbers that get together a couple of times a year for a plant swap and Bar-B-Q. Some of us ladies get together thru out the year, visiting each others gardens and swapping plants and going to plant sales and nurseries together. It is one of these ladies who I visited with that I received these plants from. It is now her turn to visit with me and we hope to make a side trip to Gardino's nursery. Denise....there is a yellow heushkeliana and I think that is what I may have. It does have peduncles on it now and they sure do look like all the photo's I see. I just wish I could get a good picture to show ya'll. Would make me feel so much better if it was confirmed. You confirmed my thoughts pretty much on the others.#8 has to be some kind of a publicalyx, #5 has me baffled too. Several of these Hoya's have the huge leaves with stout vines. And I think I read somewhere that you are a big fan of the big leaf hoya's. pugluvr I feel very fortunate that I received these plants from this wonderful and generous lady. I think it needs a good soaking. It is trying to conserve moisture and is dropping old leaves. If you are unsure, stick a long toothpick or wooden kebab skewer deep into the soil and leave it overnight. Pull it out tomorrow, and if it doesn't feel dampish, you should water. It is possible your soil is compacted into a hard mass which water cannot soak into. When you water, watch if the water comes out the drainage holes immediately or if it actually soaks into the soil. If it pours out immediately, immerse the whole pot in a deep tray of water and let it soak for a few hours. Then use the wooden skewer to determine when it needs to be watered again. The purple colour is likely from the high light levels. happy growing! Breton
