It is a very beautiful classic. I wouldn't be without it!

I looked it up and it is a good choice. I like daylilies that rebloom and this one is a rebloomer :)

I don't have Fairy Tale Pink, but I've seen it growing in several gardens and it is beautiful, but I wouldn't call it pink. Whenever I've seen it, it's peach.

I wouldn't call this one pink either. In fact it irked me so bad that it wasn't even close to pink most of the time that it is no longer in my yard. It bloomed fine. Held up in the heat and sun. Opened pretty good in cool weather but it was not pink.

FAIRYTALE PINK is a classic. I have it ordered as a "alternate" if one of my other "pinks" ordered didn't increase enough. I only put it on alternate because I had already ordered it's Stout Medal winning offspring BARBARA MITCHELL.

With the vast majority of "pinks" the color is very dependent on soil & climate conditions (temps, humidity, etc) so it does not surprise me that people have complained about it being peachy. If you look at its parents you'll see that its color is a combination of their rose pink and peach.

FtP has been used extensively in breeding programs. It has produced 238 registered offspring! Someone has converted it to tet. but only a couple of the offspring are registered as tet's.

While researching this cultivar I pulled pictures of as many of it's offspring as I could find and put them into one folder to look for common traits. It seems to readily pass on its lovely form. Colors range from rosy to pastels with a few reds. Its offspring also show an occasional watermark or eyes and fairly frequently a lighter midrib.

Besides BARBARA MITCHELL, another well loved and frequently sought out offspring is SUSAN WEBER.

One of FtPs parents, JANET GAYLE, has been blamed by some as the potential source for crown rot susceptibility. Don't know that there is any conclusive data to prove this theory but it should be noted that some people have had difficulty with lack of disease resistance with FtP and some of its offspring.

Debra, you really did your homework didn't you? Thanks for all the info on FTP. I've grown it for years. It was one of the first dl's I purchased and it will always have a place in my garden. Just for comparison, here's one of my photos of it.

It will ALWAYS be here, it is simple, very pretty, and preforms like the star it is.

Now for the bad news......

I have a number of FTP's well-known offspring, love them all, and saw a package of bareroot Fairy Tale Pink at Home Depot 3 years ago. The flowers later turned out to be a light orange. Not a hint of pink, and in no other way resembled FTP. That was the first and last daylily I bought at Home Depot. Tissue culture plant gone wrong? Mislabeled? Who knows?

I hope you have better luck than I did. But I'm sticking with our local garden store that specializes in daylilies from now on.
