wanted: rooted Carnation of India/ Crepe Jasmine
Comments (0)Would love to have a rooted Crepe jasmine plant (Tabernaemontana divaricata). I have rooted Jasminum Beesianum to trade ( It has pink buds that opens to white fragrant flowers). Or you can look at my list. Thanks!...See MoreLooking For: Belle of India Jasmine Rooted Cutting

Comments (16)No-Clue, You live in CA so you might be able to find large specimens of 'Belle of India' though it only took a year for the ones I got from Pepper's to get large (I grow them in the 5:1:1 mix). :) As for Aglaia odorata (Chinese Perfume Plant) it does indeed smell wonderful though it is a light scent. Don't expect a heavy scent like a sambac jasmine will deliver. :) You can order them from all sorts of places like Pepper's, Logee's, Amazon, Zone 9 Tropicals, etc. Here's what I wrote about Aglaia on Logee's site- I grow many fragrant plants- jasmines, brugmansias, brunfelsias, etc. and Aglaia odorata is definitely one of my favorite scents. Ive heard descriptions ranging from a clean, sparkling lemony scent to Limoncello and Roy Genders in Scented Flora of the World states the following: Said to be the most exquisitely scented of all flowers, like vanilla but with spicy undertones. LOccitanes lemon verbena Eau de Toilette comes close to the scent when the real thing is not available. The fragrance is variable depending on ambient temperatures and humidity. I do not know why more people do not grow this wonderful, attractive plant. -Robert...See MoreBelle of India Jasmine
Comments (15)Kasie, Belle has elongated petals. Mysore has rounded. Give us a pic and we can quickly get this figured out for you! ;) Lakshmi, Do you have a greenhouse or will you be growing it inside during the winter with supplemental lights? The decreasing light levels will probably send your jasmine into dormancy (meaning don't fertilize when it's not actively growing). I cut mine back and shove them down into the basement and only water occasionally but I don't fertilize during the winter since mine are in the dimly lite basement. Foliage-Pro by Dyna-Gro is an excellent fertilizer. Some people dilute the amounts and fertilize every time they water or you could follow the recommendations on the label. I throw Ironite on top of the soil when my leaves look yellowish (I don't follow the instructions and just give what I think they need since I've so many other potted plants to tend to). I hope this helps! -Robert...See Moreangel-face
