I'm asking b/c I promised my DH I would ask

OK, besides the fact that my DH thinks daylilies are "too fancy", he is not so happy with the foliage to flower ratio. In other words, a lot of green long leaves!

So, here's the question... with an established plant, how harmful is it to cut back some of the foliage after it blooms but well before autumn.
