Need seedling source for Doug fir

Hello,

I'd like to try and grow a couple of Pseudotsuga menziesii in some shady spots in my yard. The one seedling nursery I found in MN that has them says they need full sun and have dense foliage. Is this most likely stock bred for Xmas trees? I prefer a more natural look and need the 7-8 shade tolerance that comes with young Doug fir. Or don't cultivars really change the shade tolerance? Could it be that the website said "full sun" because they assumed they would be grown for Xmas trees, and therefore would need to have full sun to get dense foliage?
