I'm at war.....with Ruellia.

They should come with a warning label..."Caution: Plant at your own risk!".

Honestly, I think it's more invasive than kudzu...it's just sneakier. Do NOT be fooled by the "Florida Friendly" neutered type...it still invades- just slower.

Anyone have any luck erradicating this gardening mistake? Before I knew anything about it, I was lulled into complacentcy of the pretty daily blooms and low-maintence aspect and planted it everywhere in my yard.

Talk about "plant the right plant in the right place!"....ugh! I'm going to be ripping this out until the day I die.

It pops up 3-4 feet from wherever you planted it in all directions...under pavers, under fence lines...mingles in tree roots. It's a nightmare.

Aside from setting my yard on fire, what else can I do? Last year, I ripped it all out and sprayed the roots I could find with RoundUp. It's all popping back up in time for spring now.
