Is it really getting warmer???

I stowed the goose down comforter and switched to a light blanket last night; even left the window open. It almost seems as though the plants are growing, or at least, not dying anymore. Man, this was a rough winter, and remember, I'm in Zone 10!!! I can't even imagine what would be like to live north of here.

But no more complaining and talking about it. As matter of fact, I'm not going to use the "W" word again until next December.

I'm hoping to start up the mistbed April 1st. Crotons only. If there's one that you're looking for, please ask. I'm more than happy to grow new plants for collectors.

The Yellow Excurrens that look a bit too green in this photo are now a vibrant yellow and totally blocking my view out the window. (Both are almost 2' taller!) So there'll be dozens of cuttings from these. Also, the huge Harvest Moon in the bottom photo has gotten too huge and is blocking pathways on either side of it; lots of cuttings will come from there.

Nothing will be ready for the Spring Swap-a-Que, but I'll be loaded with plants come October!

Wowzer Rickey, absolutely beautiful! Me thinks I'll find a way to be at the fall get-together. I know it sounds crazy to set a date for that one now but I have to take a week off in either Sept. or Oct. so once you know when that one will be please let us know so I can see if I can get the week afterward off....

The Fall Swap-a-Que will be probably be Sunday, October 18th, unless we're dealing with storms and/or damage.

Since you don't want to heat the room with the towel warmer, I'd be more concerned about the average temperature that the unit gets, whether it has a programmable timer and maybe even a temperature control so that you have the towel toasty warm when and how hot you want. I don't know about curved bars; you bring up a good point. I do know that the more layers you can create on the warmer, the more insulation you provide for the towel to stay warm. So, you're right about the number of bars so more surface area touches the towel as well as making the towel thick as you put it on the bar. Hope that makes sense. FWIW I don't think a darker floor would conflict with your cherry floor-- as long as the tone is utterly different, it could look great. For the tile the key seems to be to get away from anything pink-ish or orange-ish. But all of the tiles you pick have that tone, so I would consider changing cabinet tone, maybe to something closer to your floor, and then the combo will be perfect. Even a lighter version of your floor would work. Maybe it's the cabinets that are throwing everything off instead of the floor! All of the tiles you like seem to be similar, so I would start with that and work from there. The tiles are lovely, just too pink/orange for the cabinets. Or, go darker with the tile, but we keep suggesting that and it isn't sounding good to you, so there must be a reason! I agree re: the dark grout-- it would look funny with that tile. With a slightly darker tile it could look awesome. I work with the 100% solution dyed acrylics everyday and have for nearly 20 yrs. now. Here is what I've learned thusfar: The most "sun fast" colors are the blues, greens, and black is very sun fast, as well. If you had a black umbrella fade to "eggplant" I'd wager dollars against doughnuts the fabric was NOT 100% solution dyed acrylic. End of story. I know of several local awnings in black that we made nearly 10 yrs. ago and there is no appreciable fade on them. Ditto the many boat tops we've made. The worst colors with respect to "fade" are the reds and the yellows and any shade or tone in between. Red (esp. "Logo red") looks crummy in 1-11/2 yrs. in New England and is probably worse in sunnier locales. As for heat retention... darker colors absorb heat. Yeah! it will be hotter under those colors, that's just common sense. Brand names to look for are "Sunbrella" (Glen Raven Mills) or "Diklon" or "Para". I'm not sure who owns them now, but Glen Raven has been on a buying frenzy of late and they've probably snapped up those brand names, too.

But I'm not sure I remember the name of that lovely color I see.... Was it? Oh yes, I think it is called "green?"

I am currently enjoying all shades of brown and tan in my garden...

Global warming, my hiney... This was the most cold I remember out here in 21 years. Maybe it his us harder because we no longer have the pine woods to protect us?

Thanks Ricky, I know you like to hold them on Sunday so I'm going to request the week of October 19th off, that way Cathy and I can come down for eye and food feast!

Thanks Ricky, we're definitely looking forward to it. Did you see my response to your Thanksgiving message on how to cook the turkey? I had to make a make shift v-shaped rack to hold the bird but on an impulse we cooked it that way, including the towel and it was the BEST tasting most TENDER bird we've ever had! Point being that I can't wait to try your BBQ :-)
