Little Red Garden Cart

Look what I found on the sale rack at the discount store (Big L0ts)! Isn't it a cutie?!?

It was less than 1/2 what it sells for on-line or at the major chain store. What a bargain! I would never use this cart for children as it's very flimsy and lightweight but it's going to be perfect for the Leu Gardens plant sale, for short walks to the grocery store, and for a plant swap or two. It only weighs a couple pounds so it lifts in and out of my car easily and it's not too big so it fits in the back of the Honda without lowering the rear seats. I attached a couple bungie cords so I can secure plants to the sides if I need to. (Donna Lynn, remember how full our cart got the last time we went to the Leu sale?!? LOL!) The box says it will hold up to 85 pounds but I don't think the plastic wheels will stay on with that much weight. It hauled 65 pounds of dog (combined weight of 2 dogs) around last night though and handled that OK.

If you see my cart at the Leu sale, you'll know it's mine because I've Sharpie'd flowers and vines on the little white wheels and "Happy Solstice" on the back.

I recently sold my yellow submarine. A 1981 BRIGHT YELLOW corvette. I was constantly being followed by cops. I have never gotten a speeding ticket but as soon as they'd ee that car they were on my tail. I would then slow down to about 25 miles per hour just enjoying life and they would finally pass and leave me in frustration.HAHA! Once I got pulled over and he couldn't find anything to ticket me for and finally he said,"OK, I'll let you go since I can't PROVE you did anything but,,,,,your lipstick is on crooked!"

Little red bugs that hop

The pictures of leaf hoppers look like a different shape than my bugs. Mine are quite round. I probably gave the wrong impression when I compared them to mini grasshoppers. Also, I'm noticing that some are brown. Also, when I say they hop, I would say it is like those shooter weeds that shoot seeds when you touch them - the bugs go flying about that far.

We have two wheelbarrows, a small, single-wheel, metal tub, and an extra large, two-wheeled, plastic tub, construction barrow. I use the 'standard' quite often, because I'm too small to man-handle the two wheeled job when it's full. It doesn't turn very well, but I do like the plastic tub! The metal tub on the little one is rusted and cracking (I think it's 13 years old). I think I will buy a plastic tub single wheeler to replace it some day. I have always wanted one of the large red wagons that you can pull by hand or with a tractor. We also have a polar bear trailer that we use with the truck to get sawdust, gravel, hay, deliver manure, etc. It dumps, and can be pulled with a garden tractor for those big brush clearing jobs. Kate, after seeing your red cart, I dropped by Big Lots today. Didn't find a cart, but did find one of those tag-along plastic milk crate type things. It stores flat so it can be stored anywhere. I'm ready for Leu also!

I'm president of the Central FL Daylily Society and we will be selling potted and bare root daylilies at the Leu Garden sale. We are located next to the colorful bromeliades. Last year was my first Leu Garden sale and I'm hooked!

Kate, I want to see the cart gussied up after you put the vines on the wheels and happy solstice on the back! That is just a perfect size for gardening!

Oh Kate, that is so cute!! Adoreable, don't get it dirty!! Your doggies are beautiful. Are they shelites? Look at their full fluffy hair! I WANNA HUG EM.

Yes, they are Shelties. And they are very huggable! Sarah-the-Princess-Dog on the left and Bandit-the-Ancient on the right. He's also known as Bandit-the-CatMagnet because any cat that's ever met him loves him. He is indifferent but they can't seem to get enough of him. They rub on him, curl up next to him when he sleeps and run up to him with tails held high. The kitten McQueen often walks next to him, looking up at him. Being part Siamese, McQueen talks the whole time - buzzing and burbling - he really looks and sounds like he's talking TO Bandit. He looks like the young punk in a 'buddy movie' tagging along beside the more laconic older guy. Bandit mostly just ignores him. To cats, he must smell like old sardines garnished with catnip.

LOVE your cart and your doggie tales, Kate! They are beautiful animals, and I envy you your cute little red wagon! Can't wait to see it in person, if I make it to Leu Gardens next Sat.
