When I saw the post that's titled "horse manure" - I thought it was a weather rant!

It's cold, I hate it, so I dug out sod to keep warm. I may plant some flowers there and watch them freeze in a couple weeks, but it'll be pretty until then!! :-)

I am with you all too. I hate this weather! It' the coldest winter we've had in 15 years here. This weekend is supposed to be warmer, for us, maybe 80 on Sun. hoo ray! But then get cold again next week. :o(

all is not lost this winter! i discovered the garden web, learned about photobucket and how to post pictures. got plants names from you guys that i gave up trying to identify and passed the time reading your posts and seeing some incredible pictures.

I agree with everyone. Don't think I've ever seen it soo cold for soo long and I've lived here for 66 years!

I HATE it! This weather sucks! Remember the "this weather is makeing me grouchy" post? Yeah that still applies.

This is my first winter here--and I am disappointed by the cold and my sorry-looking frozen plants. It was so nice in November, but not so nice now. Of course, it beats all the snow and cold they got up north this winter!

Why can't it be in the 70's? The upper 70's is nice. It's cool enough to garden but you don't need a sweater. Why does it have to be the 60's or upper 80's????There's a happy medium...it's called the 70's!!! geesh!

I'm supposed to go out to dinner with DH and have no long sleeve anythings left. zip (maybe a nice robe)

Now THERE'S an idea - we can go out in our long fluffy robes and bunny slippers... wouldn't that be a hoot at the local garden centers?

60s or 80s? Do you live in California somewhere? It is more like the 50s or 90s here in Pinellas Co this year. If we could get to that sweet spot of 65 to 85 degrees it would be great. I am not picky.

I remember lots of times it was this cold and I've lived in North Florida forty-five years.

When I was little I remember walking on the ice over the deep creek. It's snowed at least four times in my lifetime in South Columbia County, Florida (got the pictures.)

Know you guys probably moved to Florida for the warm/Hot weather but I like the cold weather. Seems to put a halt to the mosquitoes too.

When it's too cold or too hot, I stay insde and quilt. In between I garden. I really can't stand the heat of summer so had to add another hobby shortly after moving to Orlando. Normally this would be gardening season but I'm adaptable so I'm having fun sewing instead.

It's Cold in Florida This Year

It's cold in Florida this year,
The weather has been so severe,
My thinking has not been clear,
I'm going crazy I fear.

My mangoes were all burned by frost,
My favorite papaya was lost,
Bananas? Well they were tossed,
My sapodilla covered with frost.

There are 3 blankets on the bed,
I'm wrapped in wool from my foot to my head,
Each day I have started to dread,
Can this be Florida?, my wife said.

But things are looking up today,
The worst is over I say,

My daughter brought home straight A's.

Soltice, you have the answer, find another hobby for the cold weather! I just got so into gardening, I don't have another one. I just sulk. lol And I have to admit I've been warmer here then you. I kept saying I was going to paint and clean out my closets. But didn't it.

We're leaving the cold at 7:15 tonight! Bags are packed, cameras have fresh batteries, and I even bought a new toothbrush for the occasion! Daytime temps in the high 80s and nights no lower than 65.

How come whenever I complain to family and friends up north I get no sympathy? ;-) I tell everyone we moved down here to escape the cold. I lost 3 roses this winter! I will replace them next fall when I return from our trip up north.

How lucky are you Ricky! That is one place I would love to see! Guess I'll have to settle on your pictures!

Unfortunately...the 70's is not staying for long. Just checked my 7 day forecast and I show 32° for Friday morning, but I'm sure the closer Friday gets here the colder the forecast will be. I personally love the colder weather, its a nice change from months and months of heat...but I don't like the freeze or the frost...when it kills plants :o(
I can't wait till the middle of March...when the threat of frost is less. Stay warm everyone!

Brrr, darn it is cold this morning. I hope it doesn't kill my seedlings in the garden. Galapagos islands would be nice wouldn't they?

I'll say one thing, my citrus are loving it. Everything is blooming it's head off. Smells wonderful.

Got a frost here last night (south of Sarasota)--that took care of the canna leaves that were growing back. Also, the Hamelia patens and cape honeysuckle I planted within the last 2 weeks had leaves damaged by frost. I didn't know they were frost sensitive. I shouldn't have planted anything until March! Boy, lots to learn!
