Flame Seedless Grape for zone 10?!

OK so I just got the Stark's Bros. catalog in the mail and I like looking at the pics of all the fruits I can't grow here in FL zone 10 till I noticed they have listed Flame Seedless grapes for southern zone 10! Has anyone heard or read of anything about them surviving zone 9B or 10 or is it one of those ridiculous zone suggestions from a company trying to push more product?

There are varieties for Fl that have been developed by U of Fl experimental station in Leesburg. I remembered seeing them years ago. They have developed grape varieties that are resistant to Pierces disease, which wiped out the Fl grape industry early in the last century. "Flame" is not one of them. My wife knew someone in DeLand who was growing bunch grapes. There is a place in Sebring, "Grapes of Kath" that sell the popular ones.

The only ones I've been able to find that are somewhat recommended for Florida are: black spanish, lake emerald, southern home, and blanc du bois. The lake emerald was found at lowes, when they got their blueberry, blackberry, and grape plants in. The southern home was found at wally world of all places just a few days ago, which apparently come from the same nursery lowes got their blueberries from. So, check out both of those places, even home depot, for a few that may do ok in Florida.

The blanc du bois and black spanish, I got from willis. These varieties are recommended usually as grafted plants, but willis sells own-root plants. If you're good at grafting, you could buy the own-root plants and graft them on better rootstock. I can tell you that the black spanish has the most vigorous and deep root system of all of the bunch grapes I've tried in Florida so far though.

I know it's not flame seedless, but maybe it'll give you some other ideas.

I have mars. I would say skin thickness is about average, its not super thin but ive had thicker. I got my first significant harvest of a few clusters last summer in the vine's third year (had some the 2nd year but something else got to them before me) they taste similar to seedless concord you see in grocery stores, like concord maybe just a little less intensely flavored. a lot of sources say they ripen in early august but I thought they were kind of on the sour side until early September then I liked them. its been a pretty fast/vigorous grower for me I bet the vine grew in length 6-10 feet last year maybe more, I had to trim it mid summer to keep in contained

Canadice seedless grape in zone 4 (NW Iowa)??

'Saturn' is only hardy to zone 5. 'Canadice' is one of the hardier seedless, but may still be marginal in zone 4. The hardiest of all would probably be 'Petite Jewell'. It is sold by Fedco Trees, but sold out right now. From Fedco's description: "Petite Jewell Grape. Early-Very Early. (MN 78 x Canadice) Swenson intro, Minn. If you live in California, it's unlikely that you'll be able to mail-order grape vines grown in other states. You'll have to find a California source for what you're looking for. 'Jupiter' is a seedless muscat grape. It's a good one, if a muscat is what you're looking for. 'Vanessa' and 'Reliance' are both seedless red grapes with American grape DNA that have berries resembling European table grapes and might do well in a sun-compromised site. Otherwise, you should be able to grow 'Perlette,' 'Flame' or any of the other standard market varieties. While it might be possible to grow grapes in reduced sunlight, sugar accumulation is to some extent heat and sunlight dependent, so you might find that the flavor of the fruit grown in partly shaded conditions does not live up to its reputation. With fruit growing, success is often a measure of degree rather than a yes-no proposition.

I go to the u-pick farm often, they have a lot of good and different varieties of grapes including the seedless, they are located near Clermont. There are also some wineries there. You can make a road trip and find out for yourself.
