What's Blooming Today, June 10

We had storms this morning, and when I looked out I saw a gargantuan limb from the neighbor's tree down in my yard. It was with fear and trepidation that I ventured out into the yard (since I have a garden under those limbs and several recent intros in pots). Miraculously the limb fell right in between two of my gardens and didn't hurt anything! And, one of the gardens that has been struggling will now get more sunlight - thanks to this lucky twist of fate. Anyway most of the blooms were torn and waterspotted, but a few held up to the rain like troopers.

PERSEUS SANDALS amazed me with its pristine look and wider than usual white edges. One of the blooms even had a couple of teeth.

ONCE UPON A DREAM had a very nice ffo, despite the weather conditions. Only a small piece of the edge was torn.

BELLA SERA stayed dry in a pot under the carport.

DESTINED TO SEE had a great ffo too.

They are all just gorgeous.Am so glad the limbs missed your daylilies.Thats some goood luck.BELLA SERA is soo pretty.Thanks for sharing them.

Glad you had a bit of luck with that limb. The name SPEEDO hit me funny... but the flower is gorgeous!

CLC70- Connie To left of the bird bath I have a bunch of perennial hibiscus and then in front of the birdbath I have some hummingbird salvia and then in front of that is Coneflowers. It looks like they are leaning toward the birdbath but the only one for sure leaning is the hibiscus and you would know the flowers of that one. But the rounded one is coneflower. HTH Gardenweed I can not remember the name os the cana there are also red ones here as well. I bought a pack of mixed seeds from ebay and nother germinated sadly. But I also collect seeds as well as dig up the plants in the late fall. Paula

Hi - Checking in for the sake of our ears! (Just kidding DeeMarie!) QOD - I am going to a craft show in the park tomorrow with a friend of mine and then out to lunch. The doc put me on prednisone this week and my cough is slowing improving. My back also improved, and a friend of mine who is a nurse, said the steroid could be doing double duty. If so, I say thanks heavens. I got out of bed yesterday without grimacing and finally feel like my back is normal. DD is coming home next Wednesay to pack up her things and get ready for the big move. Things have been hectic as I have been trying to get her some last minute appts., gathering up things she will need and trying to organize a going away party for her for next Sunday. Keeping busy so I don't have a chance to think too much, but I am still teary. Watched a sad movie the other night and cried the whole way through. :~( Gotta go and put some dinner on the table. Oh my!!!! I'm actually getting rid of my Mr. Lincoln. I grow it in a pot (quite large), and it has been deteriorating over the past two years. Not a single rose this year. I just love all your posts, your pictures are so beautiful.
I appreciate it even if I don't respond. It is nice to take breaks from the garden work and just look at pictures.

That is amazing it fell right between your beds! What are the odds? Luck is definitely on your side! Do you have the option to be there when the tree people come to remove it?

The white edge on Perseus Sandals really makes it pop! This is the 2nd photo I've seen now I just love it.

I think it is Debra that has the Speedo/String Bikini combo, right? I'm still laughing about that.

Yes, I do have both Speedo and String Bikini. They're not planted next to each other. But they are about 4 feet apart.

I'm not sure what we're doing about the limb yet. It's so heavy, my husband and I cannot move it. It will probably have to be sawed into pieces and carted away.

Good thing the tree limb didn't hit the daylily beds. We like to see your pictures too much to miss out on. More sunlight sounds great.

Why don't you have tree limbs that are over your proberty cut back? Or if they are not over the line ask your neightbors if you could limb back some trees on your side of the view.

Have you talked to your neighbors about it yet? It would be ideal if they considered the tree weak & dangerous & took it down all together. If that be the case it wouldn't be much for who ever they hire to come over & take care of your branch,

Wasn't Chartered Course one of your top 10 best performers for 08? I think it's beautiful!

Chartered Course rebloomed last year, but I don't think it made my Top 10 Performers. Natalie Antoinette was the Stamile pink in the Top 10. I will say Chartered Course is one of the best parents I have. The pollen is like pollen on steroids. It will set seeds on the most reluctant of cultivars.

Lala - And about the tree, my neighbor wasn't home last night. He's a single man whose job takes him out of town a lot. The limb is mostly on his property. I'm going to cut off a couple of the big branches lying in my yard and drag them to where the rest of the limb is. Whoever removes the debris will have to take it out through his yard then. It's far enough back that it shouldn't hurt my daylilies. Thanks for your concern.

You're right, that CHARTERED COURSE bloom is beautiful. And ONCE UPON A DREAM is a beauty I haven't seen before.

Great news on the tree limb missing your garden, and even better that you now get more sunlight. We had a large maple removed last Fall and I can't believe the amount of sunlight my former "shade" garden receives. I certainly hope the hostas planted there can tolerate that much sun.

Wow! Bella Sera and Chartered Course look really nice. Natalie Antoinette is on my wishlist, too (once the price goes down).

Debra, Chartered Course is beautiful (love those pinks); enjoyed all the others too. I am amazed to hear you had a bad storm. We had nothing in Franklin.

I can't even remember how many times I've seen Chartered Course as a parent somehwere in his the intros since it was introduced. He obviously thinks extremely high of it to use it as much as he has.
