Silvia - at night the seven dwarfs come out to tend to the gardens, or so I heard LOL. Is that a picture of pumpkins growing from supported vines? Interesting. What feeds the vines? There didn't seem to be much in the way of soil underneath.

And, I don't think I could resist picking one of those papayas.

Thanks Silvia for posting the pictures. You are motivating me to just go for the gusto; get over the self-consciousness, air up the wheelchair tires and go see the sights at Epcot during the Flower & Garden festival.

Bill, next time I will take the tour to the greenhouse and spy on them to see what they do,lol. It was too long for the child with us.
The system is very elaborate, what I like the most are the trellis, they are almost invisible and use almost no space.
Of course the environment is very controlled temperature is perfect, outside it was cooler and when I went in summer is also perfect there.
And those are pumpkins, they had some on the floor also. And Bill, outside the Mexican restaurant that we had lunch is the sapodilla tree, when I saw it I remember you and our sapodillas, lol. The one in the picture has a big trunk and had so many fruits and it was in the pot. If you go to the restaurant it has a nice scenery inside, have to make the reservations in advance, it is always busy. The Mexican lunch is a very good choice or any of the children plates. I ordered the cochinita philbil and I did not like it too much and this is a typical dish that I always liked.

Dianne, I hope that you get to go to the flower festival, I went there last year and it is beautiful, it will be your turn to take the pictures, lol. And never be self conscious there are so many people in wheelchairs and everybody is having fun. Dianne, you are next!

Dianne-There is no need for self-consciousness. There are lots of people who use wheelchairs in the Disney parks. You wouldn't stick out at all.

Silva-you would like the Behind the Seeds tour. I think is was fairly inexpensive by Disney standards, about $12. They took us back to the lab and showed us photos of plant pests. Most of the people who operate the Land are college interns and the also give the tours. I got to taste a cucumber and feed the fish in the tank. They said they wear coverings on their feet to avoid contaminating the sand. A fun time for gardening types.

Where is the veggie garden? I've never seen that before. I love the brussel sprouts!

Nice pictures. I would love to go to the Epcot flower show, but can't justify spending almost $200 to get in (for 2 people).

Amber - It is funny but each time that I go it seems like new again, it is always fun and is the thing to do when I have visitors, everybody has fun at Disney, no matter what age. I will do the greenhouse tour when I go to the flower show next time.

Julia - the vegetable tour is in the same place as Soarin, my favorite ride! you will like it to get some ideas.

Julie - It sure is expensive, but is a little cheaper if you get the Florida residents pass like we got. It is worth it for the visitors , it is one in a lifetime experience.

Silva-ditto that. I have the FL resident seasonal pass and have been there a million times but each time I discover something new. Last time I discovered a fairly large counter service eatery in Epcot that I had missed for years. Must be the Disney magic.

You know they've spent a FORTUNE to get those inside pumpkins to look like that, I'll guarantee it's not practical regardless of how much they want us to believe it's the future...greenhouse cukes and tomatoes, sure, greenhouse pumpkins, I don't think so....

What in the world have they done to the bananas, tapioca and papayas? It sure looks like they buried them in a foot of sand!

That's the Queensland lettuce, right? It's one of my favs....

Good grief, no wonder EPCOT is growing the Indian calabash gourds, our heat and humidity won't do them in but I don't think I could possibly take the stink of the plants on my hands or the odd taste of the fruit regardless of how well they produce here during our wet/rainy summers!

As usual your stuff is beautiful Silvia, can you say Duh! Epcot needs to take a few lessons from you ;-)

And you are right about the gourds, they did produce well, the smell is another thing, but yours on the trellis looked very pretty! better than Disney.

The lettuce is one of the packets that you sent me... My brother said they should put my cabbages in display, they are the biggest that he has ever seen. Between the cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and collards, I don't know which ones are bigger, they produced extremely well this season. Soon I am going to be looking to give away tons of veggies. After my family leaves this month, I will be working over time on harvesting and planting.

Those are super looking greens as usual, they almost look too nice to eat.
My earthbox tubs are still producing greens as I keep trimming a few leaves with scissors for salads all winter long.
I looked at my tub of garlic and saw I had planted one clove up-side-down. The darned thing was still growing anyway and the roots looked like a white legged spider sitting on the clove as they draped down into the dirt. Doggone old eyes here. I will have to start buying the cloves with the arrow on the sides. (this end up)

Hi Lou - You are always so funny! lol. And thank you for your nice words. The garden is plentiful, right on time for my other two brothers coming from the frozen north. This weekend is the family reunion and we are all gardeners, just a different kind.:) The brother that is here now has planted rice among other things in his property, that remind me of you and your rice experiments.

I was amazed at how much rice I harvested over and over again all the summer season long.
Those initial 25 seeds produced just under one quart of rice on the final tally.
I think the weather here in Florida is just perfect for growing rice.

I also want to thank you for suggesting I buy my fruit trees from Bay Laural Nursery.
They are really nice trees and the combined shipping is very low priced.
When I saw how nice the first trees were that they shipped to me I went back online and made another order.
Now I will have to cut down some more forest trees to make room for next years order of fruit trees.

Around my older fruit trees I dig a small trench around the outside perimeter of the fruit tree and bury fresh chicken poop so it will degrade and work it's way down to feed the roots that are searching for food. As the tree grows the trench circle gets bigger. (just beyond the tree canopy)
The summer rains work the nutrients down to the root area.

I just took this pictures for you in the garden, a lot of sun outside.

Both trees the aprium and the plumcot that I got this year are getting flowers. Here is one of them, the pear is in the back. Good idea about using the chicken poop for your trees, they will grow stronger!.

Oh thank you for posting those pix, Sylvia! Epcot is my fave Disney park & The Land Pavillion has got to be my fave area of Epcot = )

Last time we were there we ate lunch in the cafeteria @ The Land Pavillion (Epcot has the best food @ Disney IMO) & they had some of the strange fruits on display @ the counters - I've no idea what some of them were - 1 looked like a giant (like 18" long) green carambola w/ a hard shell.
