another FFO today after near drowning

Well,they seem to have recovered just fine from almost getting washed away.This is my first bloom to see on this one,and its a very nice one, too.

I have two of these I got at Home Depot a few years ago and they both have made big clumps and really pump out the blooms.I have had them about 4 years n ow.

This one is still just a DBL fan,that came from Wild's a couple years a go on one of their $ 3. sales.

Another of them $3. sale plants.

Gotta love those $3.00 sales. I just ordered a bunch of $2 and $3 DL's from Wild's last week. Can't wait for them to arrive. Hope they look as pretty as yours in a few years.

Custard Candy has a nice form with lots of blooms. Looks good enough to eat. I think you got the rain that missed us. After all that rain in May we are now dry as a bone. Glad to see that your daylilies are blooming.

Here in Lakeland we had 3 days of freezing temperatures. My daylilies were in a raised bed that sits up on blocks that are 36 inches tall. Cold temps got under the bottom of the beds and froze the roots. Wind with the cold temps makes for dried out foliage that crumbles to the touch. I was very upset but a friend is sending me some that she is clearing out of her beds.I wasn't picky when she asked which ones I wanted, dip or tets. I said I would take either one or all. I will be reimbursing her for the postage. This summer I will sterilize my soil to kill crown rot bacteria and fungus in the soil.So before I replant in the beds, I will add new soil after the sterilization to bring the soil level up in the bed, it is a little shallow right now.

Chris - My PSM still has spindly scapes. If it doesn't shape up next year, it will have to find a home elsewhere -no matter how pretty the bloom. Dot - I do indeed love the awesome JULIE NEWMAR. Here's another photo from this morning. Julie never takes a bad photo. Dean - CRAZY IVAN is a bold daylily, in both flower and foliage. Tuxie is a very bold little girl, too. I've seen her chase male cats three times her size out of the yard. Nate - I hadn't noticed how Cary Grant's filaments matched the petal color. That does enhance its appeal. Debra

Nat, I don't know the zones for the butterfly bushes, but maybe that's our compensation down here, for lilacs usually don't make it here in the heat. Unfortunately, as pretty as I think the flowers on b.bushes are, they don't have the lilac fragrance, which is one of my favorites. Avedon

Thanks everybody!! Yeah, I know about JB and soapy water, they drown in just water too. I was just too lazy today morning to do it. Nan's First Blush is a bit taller this year, 25-26" all scapes. I think it looks creamy white in the picture as this is how it looks. In the morning shade it looks whiter. JuliaNY, I don't know why but mine are way earlier this year. Prediction was doing this (fused) and doubling last year too, once in a while, usually by the end of blooming. About heat/sun tolerance - I checked on them at one pm (one!!!) and most of them were not looking good already, curled inward petals, 'cooked' color etc. So sad.

Those Those are very pretty. It's great to have a good bloomer, isn't it? We could have used some of your rain too. We got 0.3 inches, which is better than nothing, but not enough.

Maryl, yes,Custard Candy pumps out a lot of blooms.The color in my photo is a little off,Its showing a slightly pinkish look,and its not a pink.They are alight yellow,some times almost white,but never pinkish.
Kay,We got 3 inches of rain here, but 2 inches of it fell within about 25 minutes,then the rest of it was over night,into the following day as a drizzle and a sprinkle.It did cool things off alot, too.We went from 92 down to 69..

Those $3.00 bargains are looking very nice. The Home Depot around here never sells daylilies for anything near that low.
