Colorado Blue Spruce advice for pre and post christmas

Hi,

My wife and I purchased 4 nice Colorado Blue Spruce "living christmas trees" this weekend ... and plan on having them stay outside in front of our house through the holidays. We may be a single strand of LED lights on each of them as part of our decorations.

They are about 3 to 3.5' tall each and fairly wide. They seem wider than the other trees like this we have.

I am in Castle Rock, CO at 6500' and its hard to say what the weather will be like between now and January.

We'd like to plant this trees into our yard when the holidays are over ... so any advise for how to take care of them now? And when to tranplant them? Obviously, the soil probably needs to be not-frozen to plant.

They are in the pots they came in (from Home Depot) ... and we currently have those pots sitting inside some more decorative pots with pea gravel in the bottom.

Thanks,

Scott
