What can I say, I can't seem to overcome the plant collector in me. I have had Shasta Daisies in my garden for years, love that punch of white. I have 'Highland White Dream' and "Marconi', lost 'Wirral Supreme' and 'Esther Reid some years ago :o(.
Instead of having clumps of the same variety H.W.D. throughout the garden I decided to have a variety of cultivars instead of one. Soooo, I have just picked up 'Aglaia', 'Alaska', and 'Becky', also I have been lucky enough to find 'Cobham Gold' apparently this one has been red listed, so if you find one pick it up, they're getting very scarce.
I think I've found a source for "Wirral Surpreme' this is a lovely double, the center has a touch of green when it first opens up. Still looking for 'Esther Reid'.

My name is Annette I'm also...( I know I'm not alone here)... a Plantaholic.

Oh yes, a serious plantaholic here, and every year I have different favorites, different seasons. I posted about this once in the perennials forum. I could probably put together a photo album of each of my favorites.

Spring - PEONIES. Last fall I made a HUGE 100 foot by 5 foot peony bed along the driveway. I had to move them out of my other beds because they were crowding everything. I have about 15 kinds now, but keep buying them if I see one I don't have. Sigh, this is an expensive taste.

Late spring - bearded IRIS! - I have visited iris farms and picked my favorites and have the most gorgeous spring display. The fragrance is intoxicating. Probably at least 20 different kinds. But they need frequent dividing, and get ratty looking foliage shortly after bloom. Short bloom period is what has turned down the enthusiasm.

Early Summer (now!) LILIES! CLEMATIS! I am so in love with these right now. I keep buying arbors and trellis just so I have place to put a new clematis. I can't believe lilies are so easy and fall in love with them all. Asiatic, oriental, trumpet, martagon, orienpet - I gotta have them all. The fragrant ones really do it for me - trumpet lilies, stargazer, Betty Corning clematis, ahhhhhh

Mid summer - DAHLIAS! stage - So smitten with them I can't believe everyone doesn't have at least 10 different varieties. But now I have to dig them up every year. And they don't all overwinter in the cellar so I keep losing favorites. I'm down to the hardy ones that overwinter well and it starts seeming a bit like a chore. But when they're in bloom it is so worth it.

Roses - never did them, afraid to start . . . .

Well, given our water problems last year I almost missed out on my garden but very late in the season the Santa Barbara salvia started blooming beautifully and it was SO blessedly welcome!! It did winter over and is growing and I sure hope it will do as well again. But I was so plant starved last year...I don't know if any plant will ever again fill the need like that!

Hmmm....I have about 20 different types of bearded iris and am going to order 16 new ones tomorrow. I don't know how many different varieties of Asiatic, Oriental, trumpet and tiger lilies I have. And every time I see a reasonably priced daylily that isn't orange or yellow it comes home with me. Don't even get me started on perennial geraniums (my newest obsession) or astilbes. My favorites aren't really seasonal. Once I get interested in a plant I want as many varieties as possible. Oh, did I mention lupines....gotta have more of them too. ;~)

Yes, this year for Spring I just loved my foxglove and snapdragons. Each year I seem to like those more and more.

I also am loving my Shasta Daisies and black eyed susans.

It certainly is the case for me. This year I couldn't get enough sunflower. I've got more varieties of scabiosa planted than I knew existed 3 years ago. And I had nearly given up on hollyhock until they finally gave me a good show this year.

I also have some big plans for bulbs.

Bulbs/corms/tubers. You can look forward to lovely surprises in every season. Right now I'm waiting for crinums and Oxblood Lilies. Two kinds of lycoris, sternbergias and acidanthera should follow in early fall.

Whadaya mean, what about winter? Force paperwhites, a hyacinth or amaryllis for Christmas or Valentine's just once and you're hooked forever.

Winter - It's got to be pansies, in every color and every size. I plant them both in pots and in beds. They are a riot of color from November through March.

Spring - This year I've discovered day lilies. My first attempt at them was with an impulse buy of marked down bulbs. More will be added this year!

Summer - I've never seen a cosmos or zinnia that I haven't fallen in love with...along with an army of butterflies that regularly visit them. :-)

Fall - That would be Copper Canyon Daisy mixed with purple mums. Love that combination!

Geez, most of you guys are talking sun and space--and I am salivating cuz I don't have much of either! But, this year I would have to say Queen of the Prairie (filupendual rubra) which I just discovered. It's one of those plants whose blooms actually look better in person than they do in the nursery pictures.

My favorite sun-loving, deer-resistant perennials are coreopsis (Moonbeam, Creme Brulee, Limerock Ruby, Heavens Gate) and nepeta (Walkers Low and Six Hills Giant). They just bloom and bloom and bloom, are drought tolerant. All they really require is a nice shaping trim after each flush of blooms has faded.

In the spring, I love the fragrance of our cottage pinks and the blooms seem to last for months.

Of course, we love our lavender. I cut back the first bloom at the end of May and just this morning, I'm starting to see new buds forming.

In the fall, I love our white butterfly ginger for the fragrance and the swamp sunflower for the thousands of blooms.

I'm going to add my favorite tree since it's been blooming the most heavenly fragrant flowers for a couple of months -- sweet bay magnolia.

The majority of my favorite flowers bloom in the late spring/early summer season: lilacs, peonies, dianthus, lilies, and of course my favorites, roses. Rhododendrons are also on the list, but unfortunately they don't do well for me here. Our water is too alkaline to suit them.

I have had to work to find flowers I love that bloom later in the year so that I don't have one burst of bloom and a blank green from then on. Slowly I have developed an appreciation for dahlias, chrysanthemums, penstemons and sages, so that now I have more continuity. They aren't the loves of my garden life, but they are valued and appreciated friends. I'm grateful for the gifts they bring.

And planting a few vegetables and fruits makes the fall season interesting. It is a pleasure to harvest delicious things from my garden. And by growing just enough to eat fresh but not enough to preserve, I am spared the labor of canning, freezing, drying, and the like.

My favorites tend to be the bold ones- Cimifigua "Brunette", Agapanthus "Ella Mae", Crocosmia "Lucifer", Tree Peonies, Big splashes of gold foliage, such as tansy, among dark foliage plants. I also love the topicals, that I have to dig up- cannas, black magic elephant ears, ginger lillies ( which have yet to bloom in my garden- I grew them in Atlanta, and won't give up)

My whole goal after moving here to NC was to have 4 season bloom - and I do have my favorites for each season

winter - violas, dianthus, hellbores

spring - columbine, violas, dianthus, iris, daffodils, foxglove larkspur, clematis

summer - gosh - anything that is blooming but I guess it would have to be all the rudbeckias, dahlias, hollyhocks, sunflowers, lilies, daylilies, clematis and the list goes on and on

fall - mums, cleome, all the salvias, snaps

I am starting collections of....
clematis - 15 so far
daylilies - 12 so far with 4 dwarf re-blooming ones coming
lilies - can't even begin to count - I just buy bags of them and plant but so far mostly asiatic and oriental. I am ordering collections of tiger and Turks cap

I have a serious addiction - I know that but I figure that I don't smoke, drink very little, don't go on vacations or out to dinner - gardening is WHAT I do :):) - as long as bills are getting paid and food is on the table (DH takes care of that with his vegetable garden addiction) then my addiction can go on and on as long as there is green grass on our acre+ of paradise.....

Yep. Every year I have to have new varieties of sweet peas; every year. I never get tired of them, although I must admit I have my favourites and there are some (very few) that I would not grow again.

The rest of the year I have snapdragons, roses, bulbs (particularly daffodils), and herbs, and wildflowers.

Yes, I do this, too. 2004 was The Year of the Lily. Ummm the fragrance! 2005 was the year of the peony. Umm the fragrance! 2006 was the year of the Roses umm the fragrance. This year, 2007, Rudbeckia and coneflowers -- I cannot stop myself from buying more! Rudbeckia 'Cherokee Sunset' from swapped seeds is absolutely awesome!

BTW, Lilies, Peonies and Roses are just there...nice, but I am over them.

I have really enjoyed reading each answer too....and I said as I was reading "oh right, violas and pansies, and lilacs and roses (well I only have my Bonica rose) and peonies and you should see my new "Sundown" echinacea....I guess if it blooms I love it. (insert the blushing smiley face here)

I really want to try Queen of the Prairie!

Right now my faves are: Roses!! I started planting them 2 or 3 years ago and I'm addicted. I also love coreopsis(Moonbeam, creme brulee, sunray) and coneflowers. I can't forget daylilies. I have about 7 or 8 varieties, one of my favorites being a bright yellow with a wonderfully intoxicating fragrance and another variety given to me by my late gardenloving grandma.

I just love all of my plants!! I may have to go to Lowe's or Stauffer's tonight to get my plant fix. LOL!
