Pansies are for Thoughts

Nell Jean

Next month will be time to plant pansy/viola seeds for fall/winter planting in warm zones. I reviewed an article I'd saved on viola plantings and have a vague notion of what colors I'll use where.

April, 2008, violas sown in place.

I took advantage of T&M's sale to order three different violas: Jolly Joker and Penny Sunrise for the beds that have orange and purple, and

Bambini Mix for the beds with mostly pink flowers.

Bowles Black violas that I grew for seed and planted in high shade are still alive. It would be wonderful if they survive the summer.

Who plants Violas/pansies? Are they winter plants in your area, summer annuals or perennial?

Nell
