suggestions for mock orange?

It's a large old plant, on the north of the house, gets some afternoon sun in the summer. It has gone wild, with some very large suckers. When I moved here a few years ago it wasn't blooming so I've been putting fertilizer spikes in and the last couple of years it has bloomed well. I would like to trim it back a bit though as it looks a bit scraggy. Now that it is done blooming is it a good time to prune? Any suggestions? Joe, Winnipeg
