Perfect perennials for small containers?

I have lots of small pots on the patio. I use them in the window box, on the baker's rack, and hanging on the wall.

While in theory I like to keep these pots filled with pretty annuals--pansies in the winter, say, torenia or something in the summer--in practice I hardly ever manage.

So I'm looking for perennials that really LOVE life in small containers.

So far the happiest plants I have in small containers are a purple oxallis and a kalanchoe, both from Ill-Man, and some cactus given to me by Gatormom. Oh, and a medicinal aloe. I have a couple of orchids from trades that I have high hopes for too. These things all practically take care of themselves. They don't mind if I forget to water them now and then.

Any other suggestions? Again I'm looking for perennials that are happy all year. I'm especially interested in plants with nice blooms or that will trail nicely.

Part of the patio gets sun, part shade, at different times of year, but I can move things around.

Thank you.

Bill
