Adrienne, I'm taking an extra foot of grass out and putting more roses in the front of my large rose garden. No chance to hide it from my DH. I just kind of told him, BTW, when the cement border guy comes on Monday, I'm moving the border out because I want more roses:) They're small plants so you just kind of put them here and there and he won't notice, much... Nice selection you got too, I think Rainforest will always have very pretty colors for you with your cooler temps. I don't know where you're going to put this one, but you might think of a small trellis with it and grow it as a small climber. Leslie

OMG Marie - I don't want to be a downer, but did you read the negative feedback at Garden Watchdog? The most protracted rant came from a lady who did exactly what you are proposing and sounded like she wanted to go back in time and dope slap that very idea out of her own head by the end of her ordeal. That being said, I HAVE done a group order of Helebores on a smaller scale from SG and it was OK. There were only three of us - Dee, another swapper friend and I. The plants were nice enough, but small as should be expected. Nothing that has inspired me to order from him again, but I wouldn't totally rule it out. I get their emails and laugh at their pricing because whether it is something exotic-ish or as common as Garlic chives he seems to charge the same two pricing structures for everything and presents it with the same huckster patter. Of course he also has some good growing information to impart also. He must really be a character in person.

I ordered 29 roses from Autumn Ridge Nursery on April 17th 2008. They were small and in bad conditon, but I thought once planted will come back to life. Only 4 of them did and are a pitty to look at. They are diseased, with extremelly small leaves and buds (if any). 3 roses have bloomed and they are white!!! I DID NOT ORDER ANY WHITE ROSES FROM THEM! In July 2008 I contacted them twice by email asking for a full refund. I got no response from them so I filled a complain with BBB. This 'company' is a FRAUD!!! DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM! It is the only mail order nursery I have ever ordered from :-) They specialize in clematis - have a huge selection - and I am a clematis collector. The plants received have always been extremely healthy, of a generous size and very well-packed/shipped. Shipping was always quite prompt but I only live a day's drive away so that might be why. My only complaint is that unless I order very early in the season, what I want may very well be sold out! They get a very good rating from Garden Watchdog and if you read the reviews, those who have had complaints seem to have had the issues resolved satisfactorily in most cases. A case could be made for them not shipping at this time of year simply to protect the plants. The weather has been extremely hot through this area for the last month and I would NOT want my plants sent in the mail/UPS now..........but they should let you know if that is the case and when you could reasonably expect them. A case could also be made for NOT planting anything right now as well - you may be better off in the long run with this unintended delay.
