Please advise me.

I found this on sale at Lowes in their clearance. It was cheap so I decided to take a chance. It was 100. marked down to 10.00. Do you think it is on its last leg and not worth planting? Or Is this just some dead bottom leaves due to poor care?

Thank you for your opinion.

Rather poor shape with no straight lead shoot at the moment, but no reason why it shouldn't get a decent shape eventually. Watch out for coiled roots in the bottom of the pot.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Eden is currently 4' tall and 5' wide , with a lot of horizontal canes. I try to let it grow on a topeed but it doesn't look good now. I has never pruned it, just trimmed the top of the shoot when BS leaves are too much to pick up. I used Bayer 3 in 1 and found out that did not work at all, and then switched to spray Bayer fungicide once or twice a month until October. But even with spraying, it will still has BS here and there. Burndoodle, can you explain more about "sun burn"? My Eden constantly has light/pale/almost white leaves. I put down some iron but that didn't work either. Could it be too much sun? I goggled about Eden last night and found out it is very popular in Asia as well. I also read a post that the poster assumed just likes Dr.w.van.Fleet and New Dawn, repeat bloom Eden might be the sport of once bloom Eden!!

She said though that if I waited that long (Oct 1) that if I had a "freeze" before the tree was in the ground 6 weeks that it would freeze the roots and basically the trees would die. where are they.. z8???? .. your ground freezes to a foot or two.. like mine.. doesnt it .. lol ... we would prefer the tree leafless.. aka dormant... ABOVE THE GROUND ... but it will continue to grow roots.. at least get them pumping again ... until the GROUND FREEZES .. the roots will presumably be down 6 to 12 inches.. or so.. and at that level.. the soil will not freeze until after thxgvg... if not 1/1 .. in a NORMAL winter ... whatever that is anymore.. lol ... [we are both z5] the temp of the air has nothing to do with root temps ... in the ground.. [now a potted that late in fall .. well the pots can get really cold ... and the roots might freeze and the plant go totally dormant] you dont have to wait until october ... your window of opportunity ... is when the days barely get into the 70's .. but MOST IMPORTANTLY... the nights are down in the 50's ... a cool moist night to recover from any day heat ... and by that point.. who cares if the leaves fall off.. the only concern.. is that it is cool enough.. that the tree goes dormant ... and does not try to releaf and waste stored energy.. only to get hard frosted ... i learned this stuff.. when i had a guy who would allow me to mark things all summer.. for digging.. but he refused to dig in summer.. and i would get the call in late august or so ... when he felt.. in his vast experience.. that he could be digging in a few weeks [soil moisture was another variable for him] ... so i usually got the 'come get them call' .. right around mid sept or so ... which gave me a couple weeks notice to go dig some holes ... if they come in one gal's .. i would still pot them into 2 gallons... and stake them thru the holes in the pot ... so they dont fall over.. just to give them some extra root space.. and have some fresh media.. for some root extension ... finally... i would put them right out my north facing front door.. extremely bright.. but shade.. where i could check them every day.. AND ONLY WATER WHEN THEY NEED IT ... [and i presume you know to wet the media.. before potting...] be the tree.. do what it needs done.. not what you want done.. which a lot of us want it to be out in the garden ... the minute it gets 'home' ... ken

Hi there noopd! You are very timely I must say. I am now at the stage where all this plumbing needs to be installed. Plans underway. Carpenter finished the walls and installed a small window into my windowless room. I enlarged the space to accommodate a 3x5' pan instead of the original plan for a 3x4' pan. I like this much better. I have all the plumping fixtures on site but not installed. Plan View: North Elevation, there will be cabinet changes from what is shown here: South Elevation, again, there are some changes compared to this drawing: 1) Raindance E 420 AIR 2-Jet Showerhead w/ Showerarm. 2) iBox rough-ins x2ea #01850181 (one for the Raindance E 240 & one for the diverter area) 3) Quattro 3-Way Diverter#15930181 to enable 2 shower functions at a time. (not the "Green" version which only serves one function at a time I believe, THANKS MONGOCT!) 4) Ecostat S/E Thermostatic Trim w/ Volume Control #04352000. 5) Ecostat S/E Trio/ Quattro Trim #04354000. 6) Axor Urquiola Face Cloth Hooks x2ea. 7) Grab bars horizontal bar on long side of shower, and a vertical one at entry to shower 8) Kohler cast iron 3x5' Salient shower pan with center drain in Ice Gray. other details in the rooom: 1) Axor Citterio M Single-Hole Sink Faucet, 8.25" tall with handle up/on. 2) Toto Maris floor mounted toilet. 3) Walnut cabinets, vanity and pocket doors. 4) 12x24 tile floor with floor warming system. 5) Stacked Miele W/D 6) Soapstone sink that I will make (I made another sink for my first BR remodel) Other things that are going in is a Fantech system - 2 vents w/lights and a remote 170cfm fan in the attic. It is called Tornado I think. Niche will be installed into the shower space. I am planning on putting it below the shower head and above the shower controls. This is the "cleanest" looking space in my opinion. But I can be convinced otherwise :) Plumber will have to plumb accordingly. ...Cherry tends to blotch too. It also darkens over time so a perfect match today will be obviuosly too dark next month. Also, the doors are the most expensive part of a cabinet, so replacing those may not be feesible. I can't beleive they didn't use wood conditioner. Wow. Anyways, you will be best off trying to work with what you have. Sanding the finish back to bare wood/almost bare wood may be possible, but not very much fun. One could then apply wood conditioner and then re-apply color for a much more even finish. Adding more color on top of what's there in the form of a dye (like Transtint) dissolved in a clear topcoat to help camoflauge the splotches. If possible, I'd try to sand back the bad color job and try again. Good luck.

Looks like a nice plant. I go to Lowe's frequently, & I have been very self-disciplined by staying in the lumber side of the store. You have encouraged me to visit the garden center. Thanks!! Joyce

i dont understand the 3 names above the one plant ... are you asking the name???

the azul part of this makes no sense to me: PICEA AZUL FAT ALBERT

and the 3rd name is not much better ... as it really isnt a name.. its either P p glauca pendula.. or it isnt.. otherwise it simply means.. a BLUE[glauca] blue spruce.. which is redundant ...

anyway... the future of this plant is in the buds... of which i can not focus on ... if properly planted.. and it winters over well enough [who knows how stressed it is] ... and the buds trigger in spring.. you will have a plant ...

as to how it will need to be pruned.. and what becomes of the damaged parts we can not predict ... but one thing for sure.. in about 5 years .. when it doubles in size.. those injured parts will not be an issue ...

those parts .. look like they were pruned for shipping.. or the plant was field grown too close to its neighbor.. or they were too close together at the store ... dont worry about them .. we can take another look early next summer.. after the flush of new growth.. and selectively remove whatever did not bud out ...

do you know how to properly plant a conifer...

as it now stand.. with the damage.. we probably can not give you a name.. until it starts achieving a more realistic form ... [or joy will tell us otherwise] .. it might be fat albert ...

Thamk you all for the input.

Ken the three names are how they are listed on the tag and the names are in that order on the tag. When I ask a question I try to give a much info that I have. People cannot help you if you do not tell them what a plant they are looking at.

OHHH and Ken....do you know how to properly plant a conifer...

This is my 4th property I have purchased, fixed up and landscaped. The first two were my training ground. I am good at this now. With shovel in hand this 5'5 120lb woman would put you to shame in the dirt. LOL

I when you buy plants from the big box stores I have found your guess is as good as their guess. LOL

Joyce, I have picked up so many deals this year at a fraction of the cost. I have 4 acres that needs major re-work because it was negelected so long and many of the evergreens have to be dropped due to size and condition.

I dropped 20 and looking to replace and design all at the same time. Lowes clearance has helped a lot with the cost of this project. If you are not collecting andjust need the look it is not a bad place to pic up some beauties reasonably.

I picked up 2 pyramidal yews for 2.00 that are 5' balled trees. So Joyce you need to glance on your way to the lumber. LOL Really you know I love you. I still want to get you at my next party.

English, Spanish, Scientific. Presumably they expect, or hope, to include the US's 16% of Spanish speakers among their customers.

Unless it's really unique, we only buy plants at Lowe's off the "used" plant rack. The dear wife usually heads for that first right out of the car, and then we worry about things like nails, paint, etc.
