I mostly lurk, so maybe my opinion doesn't count for much. :-)

This is a very adorable photo, however it doesn't say "cottage garden" to me. I have seen so many other wonderful photos showing lush beds and jumbly borders full of roses, hollyhocks, and all the other flowers we all love so much.

I'd much rather see a close-up photo like this that illustrates the nature of the forum a little better - or keep the current one.

Blueangel- no ofcourse I dont mind- thank you very much.. i'm no wiz at re-sizing.

After Lorna made that very complimentary suggestion- i did think to myself that there are SOO many gorgeous photos.. I for one woudl LOVE to see a Photo of the month or something :)

It could just be whoever posted a very popular picture. I mean just cuz it gets up there dones tmean it's the best garden aroudn. Lord knows my garden isnt- and this pic is before it was in bloom too!
I certainly dont want to be reason for folks to not be happy about the welcome page. I was honored even by the suggestion.

there are countless other gorgeous pics of "cottage gardens" on this forum. Roses4ever's spring photos,Gottagarden,angelcub,wonbyherwits,- i cant even list them all here- all the picket fence pics we've seen... amazing. don't be upset if i left out your name- there are too many of you.. just listed a few i recently was looking at!

I think it would be fun to have a rotation..something new to catch your eye each time.. but that's just my thought. :)

Kailleanm- lurkers opinions are welcome too! But I must say that although it's not a picture of a house with all the gardens surrounding it (that would be more cottagey probably)I have to defend my little garden area ( for this is one of many at my house..) and say that it is pretty darn cottagey- but nothing was in bloom when it was taken ( so it's hard to tell). right now the irises just faded, the weigelia is finishing behind the roses, the grass is behind the roses , the roses are everywhere fallign aroudn the birdbath and the alliums are poking up thru those.. and the lillies are blooming under neath the bird bath too!it's a real cottagey MESS! ;) and beautiful. with the baby this year- it's the one area i dare take pics of!

anyway.. I think a rotation woudl be very fun and i'd love to see that but if it's a hassel no one wants to take on- i cant blame them :)

1- don't get rid of those pretty cabinets on top. I was admiring them and I pictured them in white. I think black on the bottom would be too much with the black appliances. You can cut out the background in the doors with a rotozip and replace with glass doors. that might look pretty. if you don't like that idea or the painting idea them how about changing the doors instead of replacing the whole cabinet? I just ordered doors and drawer fronts for my kitchen and the total was only $279, much better than new cabinets. 2- Organic and I have the same floor. 3- Did I read you were considering blue corian countertops? That sounds good to me. I did my countertops in tile, which admitendly some people don't like and it cost me less than $50. I love your plate rails on the wall and that blue storage shelf. soooo cool!

Mine is a totally different style than what you are looking for but I'm sharing the picture because it's a great company to turn to for quality custom units. We looked at Hooker, and The Custom Shoppe was the same concept, but the quality was so much better. Everything readily available was too wide, and I didn't want a built-in. We also specifically needed pocket doors because right to the right of the niche is a hallway, which would be blocked by regular doors. The link below is to the Custom Shoppe. Thank you, remodelfla, for the soapstone comments and pictures. I don't think that the imperfections and scratches would bother me too much, but we know we will probably have to sell our house in 7-8 years, so I need to keep resale in mind. I love the look of it so much, but I need to decide if we can keep it looking good enough over the long haul. I do wish there were an alternative that had a similar look and feel, but that was harder. Granite just doesn't have the same look, and when a black granite is honed, as some friends of mine have in their kitchen, it shows every little fingerprint and oil spot. I recently heard that Caesar Stone is introducing a lot of new colors that are supposed to look more like natural stones, but I have a hard time believing that there will be any that really look like soapstone or marble.

So I'm a year late in commenting but SO happy I got to see this amazing kitchen, thanks to the "best reveals" thread. I followed this with interest and worried a little, you seemed so ambitious in including a gazillion good ideas and I wasn't sure it would lead to a cohesive, attractive result. It is a stunning kitchen, full of beauty and functionality but it is more than that, you've infused it with depth and soul. Congratulations!

I have to say, I agree with k. Yes, its adorable - but it doesn't really say cottage to me. Yes, it is obviously part of a cottage garden - but I would think a picture to on the title page so to speak would have flowers in it, at the very least.

Friend, I intended no slight to your garden. I have seen some of your other photos, and yours is a lovely cottage garden.

I only meant that at such a small size, this particular photo has your adorable little boy as the focus (for me), rather than the garden not the garden. He'd be a perfect mascot for the Gardening with Children forum. :-)

In the original post someone
posted the size was to large.
It is a darling picture and maybe
more suited for Gardening with children.
If nothing else it has recieved alot of
conversation on the subject of cottage
gardening,styles and themes.
