You have several wow flowers today. Born To Run looks so fantastic! And I see God Save the Queen has exceeded your initial expectations. The clump shot is beautiful. The large, voluptuous Cimarron Rose is my third favorite. Butte or not - I like that flower. I like pinching in the throat on the bottom petal. Do all the petals pinch?

Debra, no, I don't think the petals are pinching on my Itza Butte impersonator. It was just really early in the morning and it wasn't open fully. I think the pinching appearance is just a ruffle. Here is the same flower at 8 am and again at noon today.

What kind of scape height do you get on Born to Run? I note that you always show close-ups. Is the scape height especially low this year? I have it too, and I wish it were a bit taller.

Mantis, yes Born to Run is short. If you look at the photo of Quartz Rainbow, that is Born to Run cowering down below and just beginning to open (6:30 am). The photo I posted of Born to Run today was taken yesterday. Today Born to Run had great twins, but I couldn't maneuver down that low to get a good photo without smashing some of her neighbors.

Are you sure that is Chang Dynasty? Here it's a coral color with very faint midribs and solid yellow ruffled edge.

Dipsandtets, yes I am actually sure of that. No labels and poor memory make for an interesting level of confusion, but I am actually sure that this is Chang Dynasty. The picture above was taken at 6:30 this morning. The two pictures below were taken at 8:00am and noon today. All 3 pictures are the same flower.

Patann, I'm not sure what you mean about Optical Art. Here is a picture from last year.

Christine - Yes, the Notta Butte has all three petals pinching in the throat! Thanks for posting the straight on photo. It's not extreme, but it's there. I think that one is a Stamile. There used to be several folks on the forum who had it, and would write about how much they loved the orange watermark. I'm trying to remember the name.

It's me again. I found the possible identity of NOTTA BUTTE. It's Mandarin Seas. Perhaps it looks like Chang Dynasty because it is Chang's parent. What do you think?

CIMARRON ROSE is my favorite, but that second picture of OPTICAL ART is a close second. Also the clump shots of GOD SAVE THEQUEEN and QUARTZ RAINBOW are great.

Ellie - I think you are right about Notta Butte being Inherited Wealth. There's a photo of Dave's Garden of IW that looks almost exactly like Christine's photo. And she did think it might be Inherited Wealth.

Debra, well you could be right about Notta Butte. I looked at all the photos online, and some are quite close to Mandarin Seas. But this has been such a strange year and the blooms are not all looking like their normal selves. What I like about Notta Butte, AKA Mandarin Seas, is that the orangeness is not really an orange throat, and it's not really an orange watermark, an it's not really an orange eye. It looks like someone took a paintbrush dipped in cantaloupe and brushed outward from the throat, feathering as they went along. So pretty. Happy Daylilies to you.

Debra, since I am so familiar with Inherited Wealth, it's jumped right on me. I use it a lot as you know. Mandarin Seas is a beauty too but has a much larger cream eye/throat. Happy gardening!! Ellie

Silver Rings is my favorite along with God Save The Queen. GSTQ is sure looking good for you this year maybe she wanted to look good for the Diamond Anniversary.
