Katrina Donation Opportunity in Orlando (stuff)

Just wanted to spread the news a little early-- our church and several others are coordinating a semi truck trip to several churches in Louisiana with donated items (not cash) for the hurricane victims.

There are several dropoff points; one will be at our building downtown (near the main LYNX station, 100 W Livingston) and I'll post back here when they get the exact timeline nailed down for the semis to arrive.

The flyer draft I've seen lists the following items as having been requested by the pastors there:

Bedding (lightweight) and towels, washcloths

Summer clothing and shoes

Toiletries

Baby items

Non-battery kids games, toys, and books (to help them pass the time)

Air mattresses, kids' clothes, soap/deodorant/toothpaste/toothbrushes, diapers/wipes/creams, and kid games, books, puzzles, and baby/toddler toys are all highlighted on the flyer as "desperately needed."

oh-- and the flyer also specifically says "NO FOOD ITEMS."

I'll post more details about the dropoff when I hear more-- I'm excited about being able to give items that meet immediate, specific needs-- and that will be in the victims' hands within a few days of leaving ours.
