Bald Cypress as Street Tree

Does anyone have experience with Taxodium distichum as a street tree? I am thinking of planting one in in the grass strip in front of my house. The strip is about 5.5' wide between the curb and bluestone sidewalk. The soil is 5.5 pH and stays pretty moist. My street is lightly travelled and does not get salted in the winter. I don't know if the roots are invasive to water or sewer lines, which would be a deterent. Also, sidewalk buckling roots would be bad.

It seems like it might be a fair choice for a street tree and I really like them, so unless I get some reasons not to I think I'll go for it.
