I've been trying to research all of your wonderful suggestions. lavender lass: Yes, I'm in Spokane. Good deduction by the way. :) The alyssum did quite well and for the most part fit the bill perfectly. I'm just trying to minimize the amount of annuals I plant each year. Gardengal: Thank you for those suggestions, I really like the Saponaria Ocymoides, it is going on my definite maybe list. CMK: Also thank you very much, I'm adding the Origanum Rotundifolum 'Kent Beauty' to the above list. I really like this one too. Also looking at the thrifts that you all have mentioned and for a low growing perennial geranium. If I didn't thank you all individually, forgive me. Comments (26)Ellenr, My soapwort (the trailing, ocymoides type) did not flower it's first year. It filled itself out quite nicely, but I had no idea this stuff was so vigorous! I have it planted around my daylilies and it's pretty much hiding the foliage. I'll have to take a picture when the rain stops to show you the clump that's about halfway to full bloom. And I guess I'll move my primula jug in a cool, shady corner on my back porch and see if that'll get them to sprout. Karen...See MoreHAVE: Partial list for Green Elephant

I'll be adding a few more things in a day or two including some fall and winter veggie starts from Tammy.
