Where Did You Plant Your Knockout Roses?

Nell Jean

On the way to town I looked at KO Roses. My neighbor has two KO Standards beside her side entrance with 2 regular knockouts on each side, nothing but KOs in two beds.

Down the road a ways, they have more than two dozen -- a foundation planting that turns down beside the carport as a screen, and a short hedge out in the middle of a large side yard.

The mobile home dealer has them inside his chainlink fence. A bank has them on each side of the entrance. My doctor's office has them in non-paved spaces around the front. The most spectacular is the grocery store: two huge berms across the parking lot next to the street with KOs and violas. Soon the violas will be replaced with summer annuals, last year it was periwinkles.

I have only one, at the end of a long free-standing bed. Its companions are rose campion, crinums and a misnamed lily that turned out okay, colorwise.

How did you situate yours?

If you don't have KO, please say whether you like them or not.
